Although Apple has reached a settlement with Qualcomm, it is obviously no secret that Apple has not stopped developing its own 5G baseband.

According to foreign media reports, in order to master 5G baseband technology more quickly, Apple is increasing its investment in 5G self-research. In addition to R&D expenses, Apple continues to poach 5G baseband R&D personnel from Qualcomm and Intel, including Umashankar Thyagarajan, former chief developer of Intel's 5G modem.

According to the Wall Street Journal last Friday, citing people familiar with the matter, Intel is still considering selling part of its modem business to "Apple or other acquirers." Although the matter has been temporarily shelved after Apple and Qualcomm reached a settlement, Apple will obviously not give up easily in order to speed up the development of its own 5G baseband.
