Laird Connectivity's BL5340 Multiprotocol BLE Module, Now Available at Mouser Electronics, Delivers High Performance with Low Power
October 27, 2022 – Mouser Electronics, the industry-leading New Product Introduction (NPI) distributor with the widest selection of semiconductors and electronic components™, is now stocking Laird Connectivity BL5340 multi-core, multi-protocol Bluetooth modules. These modules are based on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF5340 system-on-chip (SoC) and are equipped with a dual-core Arm® Cortex®-M33 microcontroller to support both wireless connectivity and end applications.
The Laird Connectivity BL5340 module, available from Mouser Electronics, takes advantage of the nRF5340 SoC’s many hardware features, including support for Bluetooth 5.2 low energy, 802.15.4 (Thread and Zigbee), and NFC. The Cortex-M33 microcontroller has two cores, each with its own power management system, allowing designers to use one core entirely for wireless operations and use the other core to meet application needs.
The BL5340 module features enhanced security technologies such as Arm TrustZone® and Arm CryptoCell-312, and is equipped with USB access, a random number generator, a temperature sensor, inter-processor communication, and a watchdog timer. The module offers two antenna configurations: an integrated PCB antenna option simplifies the overall design; an antenna pin option allows for connection to an external antenna. These modules support a 1.7V to 5.5V supply voltage and have extremely low power consumption, with a transmit power consumption of only 5.1mA and a receive power consumption of only 2.7mA.
At the same time, Mouser also distributes the DVK-BL5340 development kit. This is a wireless connection rapid prototyping development platform that customers can use to test and verify the hardware interface of the BL5340 module. The BL5340 and its development kit also support programming through Nordic nRFConnect SDK and Zephyr RTOS, which has excellent development flexibility.
The BL5340 module is FCC, CE, ISED, RCM, MIC, UKCA and Bluetooth SIG certified, supporting applications such as asset tracking, smart buildings, secure medical peripherals and industrial automation.
