The research and development and industrialization of domestic 8K key technology products have made breakthrough progress. The reporter learned from Hisense that today, Hisense officially released China's first fully self-developed 8K AI image quality chip. At the press conference, Xu Wenli, deputy director of the Electronic Information Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that Hisense's successful development of the 8K AI image quality chip and its independent research and development and independent control have eliminated all technical barriers in the image quality processing segment, and is an excellent example of collaborative innovation between upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.
According to reports, China's first fully self-developed 8k AI image quality chip is Hisense's fifth-generation image quality chip. This chip has achieved a leapfrog development from 4K to 8K for the first time, and has made breakthroughs in core technologies such as AI perception image quality algorithms. By being equipped with artificial intelligence with "deep neural network" technology, it achieves high-precision image processing, extreme contrast enhancement and other capabilities, making the details and colors of the picture closer to reality.
"Hisense's 8K AI image quality chip fills the gap in domestic ultra-high-definition image quality chips." Gao Xinbo, president of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications and head of the "Hisense-Xidian" Intelligent Image Processing Joint Laboratory of Xidian University, said that in 2020, Xidian University and Hisense jointly established an intelligent image processing joint laboratory, whose mission is to surpass the image quality performance long led by Japanese and Korean brands and achieve independent research and development of domestic ultra-high-definition TV image quality chips. After a year of technical research, Hisense's 8K AI image quality chip can enable various low-resolution videos to be presented in high quality on ultra-high-definition display devices.
"2022 will be the turning point of global TV competition: we will move beyond decades of 'cost-effectiveness' competition and enter into a competition of picture quality and quality." Yu Zhitao, vice president of Hisense Group Holdings, said that over the past few decades, Chinese, Japanese and Korean companies have been competing over display technology and industrial chains, and Hisense has always been at the forefront of the market. Especially in the core track of chip technology, a complete series of chip products has been formed, and 4 generations of picture quality chips have been launched and mass-produced, forming a unique advantage in the picture quality track and getting rid of homogeneous competition.
"Chips are the core underlying technology of Hisense's large display strategy," said Yu Zhitao. In recent years, the continuous iteration of picture quality chips has not only enabled Hisense to have the ability to define products, but also based on this, it has continuously extended to commercial display chips, flat panel display chips, Micro LED display chips, automotive display chips and other sectors, forming the core underlying technology of Hisense's large display product matrix.
It is reported that Hisense's 8K AI image quality chip has been used in the whole machine, and this year it will fully cover multiple series of display products including the two major brands Hisense and Toshiba.
