At present, the refrigeration industry generally uses R22 refrigerant. This refrigerant not only has a significant destructive effect on the ozone layer, but also has a significant greenhouse effect. According to the provisions of the Montreal Protocol, the use of R22 will be fully restricted in the world in 2030. Finding an alternative to R22 has become the most urgent task for the refrigeration industry.
The synthetic refrigerant R410A, as the most popular transitional alternative refrigerant, has no obvious destructive effect on the ozone layer, but it still contains fluorine and is not a true "fluorine-free" refrigerant. The greenhouse effect it causes is comparable to that of R22. This means that R410A will still face a second elimination.
Gree has built the world's first R290 refrigerant air conditioning production line
The performance coefficient of the pure natural, environmentally friendly green refrigerant R290 not only meets the standard of R22, but also does not contain fluorine elements, will not damage the ozone layer, and will not emit greenhouse gases to aggravate global warming. It is a completely environmentally friendly refrigerant and can become a key development direction for alternative refrigerants for air conditioners.
After two years of intensive research and development, in September 2008, Gree Electric's independently developed R290 refrigerant air conditioner successfully passed the acceptance of the expert group of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association. In September 2010, it passed the European authoritative safety certification - the German VDE certification again, and obtained the European market access permit.
Jiang Feng, chairman of the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, said that this is a new breakthrough in the application technology of green, low-carbon and environmentally friendly refrigerants in China's room air conditioner industry, which is of great significance for breaking the foreign technology monopoly, mastering independent intellectual property rights and promoting technological progress in China's air conditioner industry.
According to the Sino-German joint expert group, all components of Gree's R290 refrigerant air conditioner adopt a unique safety design, and it has more than ten technical patents. The independently developed high-efficiency compressor dedicated to R290 refrigerant makes the air conditioner's air conditioning efficiency reach the national Class 1 standard.
At present, the R22 refrigerant, which is widely used by air conditioner manufacturers in my country, is facing delisting due to its significant damage to the ozone layer. According to the Montreal Protocol, developed countries and developing countries will completely ban the use of this refrigerant in 2020 and 2030 respectively.
Gree has taken the lead among other air-conditioning manufacturers in building the world's first new refrigerant R290 production line, which will inevitably lead other air-conditioning manufacturers to carry out related research and development in this regard. A new round of technological competition is about to begin.
