Samsung Electronics released a report revealing that its sales of ultra-large TVs have seen significant growth. In the first three quarters of this year, sales of TVs 80 inches and above climbed 15% compared with the same period last year, which clearly reflects consumers' strong preference for large home entertainment systems.

According to data released by Samsung on October 20, as of the third quarter, 45% of the TVs it sold had a screen size of more than 75 inches, and among this proportion, TVs of 80 inches and above accounted for as high as 21%. It is particularly worth mentioning that the sales volume of 98-inch TVs achieved a year-on-year growth of 50%. Samsung Electronics said: "The ultra-large-size TV market based on 75 inches has expanded to more than 80 inches." It also emphasized: "Regardless of the size of the house and living room, more and more consumers tend to buy ultra-large-size TVs."

This strong market performance further consolidates Samsung Electronics' dominance in the global TV market. According to data from global market research firm Omdia, Samsung accounted for 29% of the market share in terms of revenue in the first half of this year. Industry experts pointed out that the key to Samsung's success in the market is its strategic focus on high-end products, especially super-large-size TVs priced at more than US$2,500 (about 3.4 million won).

There are multiple factors behind the popularity of super-large TVs: on the one hand, the continuous innovation of TV technology, such as the widespread application of flat-panel technologies such as LCD, LED, OLED and QLED, has made larger and higher-definition TV products more attractive; on the other hand, changes in consumer behavior, especially the surge in demand for home entertainment during the epidemic, has driven the market demand for high-quality, large-screen TVs; at the same time, economic factors have also affected consumers' purchasing decisions to a certain extent. The increase in disposable income and diversified financing options have made consumers more willing to pay for high-priced items such as super-large TVs; in addition, Samsung's marketing strategies, such as events such as the Samsung AI TV Super Big Festa, and the integration of artificial intelligence and smart functions in modern TVs, such as Samsung's Neo QLED 8K technology, have greatly enhanced the attractiveness of these super-large TVs.
