Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a digital computing controller with a microprocessor for automatic control. It can load control instructions into memory at any time for storage and execution. The programmable controller consists of CPU, instruction and data memory, input/output interface, power supply, digital analog conversion and other functional units. The early programmable logic controller only had the function of logic control, so it was named programmable logic controller. Later, with the continuous development, these computer modules with simple functions at the beginning have various functions including logic control, timing control, analog control, multi-machine communication, etc., and the name was changed to programmable controller (PLC). However, because its abbreviation PC conflicts with the abbreviation of personal computer (Personal Computer), and because of habit, people still often use the name of programmable logic controller and still use the abbreviation PLC.

Common types of errors in PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) include:

1. Program error: The PLC program is not written correctly or there are unrecognizable programming statements, resulting in program execution errors.

2. Hardware failure: There is a problem with the PLC device itself, such as I/O module failure, CPU abnormality, etc.

3. Electrical interference: PLC signal interference caused by factors such as low voltage, short circuit or inductance causes the PLC to fail to work properly.

The repair methods for different error types are as follows:

1. Program error: Check whether the PLC program is written correctly and find possible errors in the program. At the same time, ensure that the I/O devices are correctly connected and the parameters are correctly set to ensure the rationality and stability of the program.

2. Hardware failure: Check whether the components of the PLC equipment are working properly, identify the faulty components, and replace or repair them.

3. Electrical interference: Install filters, isolators and other devices to prevent interference or perform empirical tests to locate electrical faults and perform repairs or restorations.

In addition, in the daily use of PLC, the following methods can be used to prevent errors:

1. Keep the PLC software updated: Using the software update program can avoid loopholes in the original program or documentation and maintain the integrity and rationality of the system.

2. Establish correct operating procedures: ensure the correctness and standardization of PLC operations to avoid unexpected errors that may lead to equipment accidents.

3. Regular maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain PLC equipment to ensure the normal operation and integrity of the equipment. During the equipment maintenance process, preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance methods can be used to prevent equipment failure.
