The grayscale of LED display is one of the important parameters of LED display. The grayscale of LED display is the color scale or grayscale of LED, which refers to the brightness of LED display. The grayscale level of LED display refers to the brightness level that can be distinguished from the darkest to the brightest in the same brightness level of LED display.

The grayscale level of the LED display determines the color of the LED display. Generally speaking, the higher the grayscale, the richer the displayed colors, the more delicate the picture, and the easier it is to show rich details.

The grayscale of LED display screens includes no grayscale, 8 levels, 16 levels, 32 levels, 64 levels, 128 levels, 256 levels, 1024 levels, etc. Domestic LED display screens mainly use 8-bit processing system, and international brand LED display screens mainly use 10-bit processing system.

1. 8-bit processing system, that is, 256 (2 to the 8th power) levels of grayscale. Simply put, there are 256 brightness changes from black to white.

2. 10-bit processing system, that is, 1024 (2 to the power of 10) levels of grayscale. Simply put, there are 1024 brightness changes from black to white.

3. 12-bit processing system, that is, 4096 (2 to the 12th power) levels of grayscale. Simply put, there are 4096 brightness changes from black to white.

4. 14-bit processing system, that is, 16384 (2 to the 14th power) levels of grayscale. Simply put, there are 16384 brightness changes from black to white.

Although grayscale is the determining factor in the number of colors, it does not mean that the larger the better, because the resolution of the human eye is limited. Furthermore, the increase in the number of system processing bits will involve changes in various aspects of the system such as video processing, storage, transmission, and scanning. The cost will increase dramatically and the cost performance will decrease. Generally speaking, civilian or commercial-grade products can use an 8-bit system, and broadcast-grade products can use a 10-bit system.
