The electric vehicle charging infrastructure is in the process of rapid development, and charging solution providers and charging station operators must conduct detailed testing and verification of different types of charging piles.

At present, different new energy vehicle manufacturers use their own charging technologies. In order to improve charging efficiency, it is necessary to compare and verify different charging processes. During the analysis process, the charging pile components, charging modes, energy flows and different functional combinations are verified by using testing and measurement methods to achieve the best charging efficiency.

In practice, charging piles are tested using test benches. In most cases, these test benches are developed specifically for testing purposes, such as functional testing or testing charging components in the network. In order to conduct a detailed analysis of the charging efficiency, it is necessary to measure the charging characteristics of different types of vehicles. As shown in the figure above, the data acquisition equipment required for measuring a DC charging pile (three-phase 400V/DC 22kW charging system). In the high-voltage lines at the input and output of the charging pile, the high-voltage measurement module HV BM is used to measure its current, voltage and power. In addition, the charging interface in the car can also be measured. Use Vector's software vMeasure or CANape to record the measurement results on the computer and complete the verification of the entire charging process based on the measurement results. All CSM HV BM can send data to the computer via the EtherCAT protocol and the XCP-Gateway gateway.

Test verification work usually includes the following:

> Does the charging test procedure run normally under different operating conditions?

> How does the energy flow behave throughout the charging process?

> How does the power loss of the charging device behave?

> Is the charging curve optimally controlled?

> How long does it take to reach maximum charging power?

> How long does it take to fully charge the battery?

advantage

This measurement solution is particularly suitable for new product solution verification testing of wall-mounted chargers, fast charging piles and ultra-fast charging piles. In the durability test, it is also necessary to measure the temperature of high-voltage cables, system components, and vehicle battery packs to prevent overheating or fire. These measurements can be easily completed using the CSM temperature module. At the same time, the module can also be connected to the XCP-Gateway gateway via the CAN bus and transmit the data to the host computer in real time for monitoring. If you need to measure the temperature in a high-voltage environment, you can use a CSM temperature module (HV TH-TBM or HV PT-TBM) with high-voltage protection function to complete the measurement and ensure the safety of high-voltage measurement.
