TDK has introduced a new series of 3D transponder coils with ultra-high sensitivity for passive entry and start systems (PEPS) and other access control systems. The B82453C*A* series of 3D transponder coils is extremely compact, measuring only 11.5 mm x 12.5 mm x 3.6 mm, and includes 6 different models with sensitivities from 45 mV/μT to 83 mV/μT and inductance values ranging from 4.75 mH to 13.2 mH. The center frequency of the transponder coils is 125 kHz. The core geometry of the new 3D transponder coils has been optimized, making the sensitivity approximately 20% higher than that of previous-generation transponder coils or similar market competitors with similar geometry and inductance values. This can significantly extend the effective effective distance of the wake-up function of the vehicle's PEPS system.

The 3D transponder coils are RoHS compliant, feature a rugged one-piece housing and laser welded winding terminals. As a result, they offer excellent mechanical stability, a feature that has been confirmed by the rigorous drop tests required for PEPS applications. In addition, the new transponder coils meet AEC-Q200 standard reliability testing.
