The latest report released by Strategy Analytics shows that by the end of 2020, more than 665 million households worldwide (equivalent to 34% of global households) will own a smart TV.

 

The report states that by 2026, this figure will rise to 51%, and 1.1 billion households will own a smart TV.

 

Data shows that smart TV sales increased by 7.4% in 2020 to 186 million units, accounting for 79% of total flat-screen TV sales.

 

The reporter learned that Strategy Analytics said that in 2020, in terms of annual sales, Samsung became the world's leading smart TV manufacturer for the ninth consecutive year, while TCL surpassed LG and ranked second for the first time.

 

In terms of systems, Samsung Tizen is far ahead, and major third-party software platforms (such as Android TV and Roku TV operating systems) have also made strong progress in recent years. In 2020, the four major smart TV operating systems accounted for more than 50% of total sales, up from 33% in 2015.
