Chip security is easily overlooked

In real life, when people talk about car safety, they mostly think of the collision safety of the vehicle, such as the proportion of high-strength steel used in the vehicle body, whether the active and passive safety configurations are complete, etc. But this does not cover all the problems that vehicles may face today.

Have you ever thought that while high-level chips provide you with high-standard vehicle quality, a pair of invisible hands may pose a hidden danger to your driving safety?

Du Lei, chairman of Beijing Zhihui Yunce Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., told a reporter from China Consumer News that if a high-speed vehicle suddenly loses power without the driver's active operation, it will cause safety hazards to all road users, and similar risks will definitely exist in the future. The security of traditional Internet is the connection between computers and computers, while the security of Internet of Vehicles is the connection between IoT devices and IoT devices, which makes the cost of upgrading very high and difficult.

Previously, if a system had a vulnerability or even a virus, it could be fixed with the next patch. But if a car's Internet of Vehicles chip has a problem, the consequences are unimaginable.

Du Lei told China Consumer News that in the field of Internet of Vehicles, inherent security is particularly important because the cost of upgrading is unimaginable. If the security problem is not solved, it is like opening a closed car, which makes the vehicle vulnerable to many attacks.

At the same time, in the protection of Internet of Vehicles chips, whether it is the car key or the wireless gateway in the car, hardware protection is actually required to prevent some physical security failure attacks, so the OEM needs to do some security protection for the hardware to verify it.

Du Lei suggested that the realization of Internet of Vehicles chip security should rely on overall security testing and the introduction of national standards. In the process of formulating standards, it is necessary to fully consider the complex factors such as possible security risks, hardware security risks, and logical security risks, so as to form the best protection for the security of Internet of Vehicles terminals and reduce the security risks in the field of Internet of Vehicles chips.
