Many industry experts said that the shortage of gaming GPUs is very likely to continue until 2022. As chip demand exceeds supply capacity by about 30%, experts estimate that it will take 3-4 quarters of supply to meet market demand. This means that the chances of players buying AMD, Intel or NVIDIA gaming graphics cards in the future are still small.

Despite supply issues, chipmakers' market capitalizations have reached new highs during this period, although we ordinary players don't pay attention to this aspect. According to Harlan Sur, an analyst at Morgan Stanley Japan, chip demand exceeds current output capacity by 10% to 30%, and it may take up to a year to catch up.

Even when this period ends, it will take another three to six months for chipmakers like Intel, AMD and NVIDIA to get their chips and restock all their distribution channels.

Demand for semiconductors has reached an all-time high since the pandemic disrupted the world economy last year (social distancing has led to increased demand for digital products). In addition, these chips are becoming more complex and more difficult to produce.

Christopher Rolland, a financial expert at Susquehanna International Group, believes that as we enter the spring and countries end the blockade and restart the economy, the chip shortage will become more serious.

Areej, editor of HardwareTimes, reported that currently countries in South Asia, such as Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI and other AIB manufacturers, have received no more than 20 RTX3080 graphics cards. China is an exception, having received about 100 RTX3080s this month.
