Silicon Labs has announced a new high-reliability (HiRel) isolation partnership with Teledyne e2v HiRel. Under the new agreement, Teledyne will offer a new range of high-reliability products based on Silicon Labs’ isolated gate driver technology optimized for the space, aerospace, military and oil and gas markets.
Teledyne e2v HiRel will sell custom high-reliability solutions based on Silicon Labs’ Si827x isolated gate driver family, which are optimized for space, aviation, military, oil and gas and other markets that require advanced technology and high reliability. Teledyne gate drivers based on the Si827x family will be screened and qualified by Teledyne to specific market specifications, with an initial focus on satellite power systems supporting satellite communications.
“The combination of Silicon Labs’ industry-leading isolation technology and Teledyne’s expertise in space and aerospace will enable high-reliability customers to achieve new levels of performance in their complex systems,” said Brian Mirkin, vice president and general manager of power products at Silicon Labs. “Our proprietary silicon isolation technology is ideally suited for specialized markets such as aerospace that require high-performance noise immunity and flexible drivers to successfully manage high-speed switching requirements.”
The new Teledyne family of Silicon Labs gate drivers is well suited for GaN applications due to its faster switching rates and offers the option of a single driver or a combination of two 4A isolated drivers in a single IC package for isolated gate drive applications. The products feature high-performance noise immunity, eliminating the risks associated with fast switching speeds. High noise transients generated by fast switching do not affect the signal integrity of the driver, eliminating the risk of false switching or latch-up.
“We anticipate significant demand from our customer base as we are able to deliver this new isolation reliability advantage,” said Mont Taylor, vice president of business development for Teledyne e2v HiRel. “Our HiRel customers are seeking robust power solutions, and we are confident that our new partnership with Silicon Labs will provide space, aviation, oil and gas, and military companies with new standalone gate drivers that will help them enhance and strengthen their system designs.”
The 827DY4 series, based on the TelesiX2020 family, will provide custom solutions. The new devices are well suited to match Teledyne’s new family of HiRel GaN HEMTs, the TDG650 family. Applicable Teledyne parts include the TDGD271DEP (Si8271GB IS), TDGD274DEP (Si8274GB1-IS1) and TDGD274FEP (Si8274GB1-IM1).
