On July 1, 2020, indoor delivery robot company PUDUTECH officially announced the completion of its Series B financing, with Meituan as the sole investor and the financing amount exceeding 100 million yuan. Zhang Tao, CEO of PUDUTECH, said that this round of funds will be mainly used for product research and development, sales expansion, new scenarios development and overseas business expansion.
Pudu Technology is a benchmark company in the field of indoor delivery robots. It focuses on robot research and development, design and production, and has a number of star delivery robot products, such as Bella, Happy Delivery, Haola, Hulu and Puling. Its first mass-produced product is "Happy Delivery", which has been widely used in restaurants, hotels, office buildings, hospitals, Internet cafes and KTVs, and has been sold to more than 200 cities in more than 20 countries around the world. Throughout 2019, Pudu Technology's business maintained rapid growth and took a leading position in the market for catering delivery robots.
Pudu Technology's core technologies are low-speed autonomous driving, robot motor drive and motion control. Its team has developed a number of technologies on its own and has applied for hundreds of core patents so far, of which more than 60% are valuable invention patents. Its food delivery robot "Happy Delivery" won the "Best of the Best" award from the German Red Dot Award, known as the Oscars in the design industry, in 2017.
Meituan adheres to the company mission of "helping everyone eat better and live better", focusing on food, providing merchants with all-round services through supply-side digitalization, and accelerating the onlineization of the service industry. This investment in Purdue Technology is conducive to combining the advantages of both parties in their respective fields and jointly promoting the exploration of local life services and delivery robot industries.
It is reported that Purdue and Meituan will cooperate and explore in the fields of robotics and catering digitalization in the future.
