Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory has resumed the delivery of its domestically produced Model 3. Previously, due to the impact of the epidemic, Tesla's Shanghai Super Factory temporarily stopped production and delivery.
A few days ago, a foreign netizen posted a photo on his social platform of Tesla's domestically produced Model 3 being loaded onto a vehicle transporter. These Model 3s will be transported to distribution centers and then delivered to domestic customers who have already made reservations.
At the same time, Tesla's previous public report shows that the current weekly production of Tesla's domestically produced Model 3 in Shanghai can reach 3,000 units. Since Tesla produces on order, this production capacity depends on the demand for orders from domestic consumers.
It is foreseeable that, judging from the current weekly production of 3,000 Model 3s, the monthly sales of Model 3 are expected to exceed 10,000. In the domestic electric vehicle market, the fact that pure electric models can achieve such results also shows Tesla's strong product strength and market competitiveness.
Previously, due to the impact of the epidemic, Tesla China executive Tao Lin suggested that the delivery and production of Model 3 in China be stopped. Until February 10, Tesla Shanghai Super Factory used buses to pick up production employees and resumed production. At the same time, its supporting battery supplier LG Chem also resumed operations.
According to Tesla, the localization rate of the first batch of Model 3 delivered to car owners is 30%. By mid-2020, the localization rate will reach 70%, and by the end of the year, the localization rate will reach 100%.
In addition, Tesla CEO Elon Musk had previously stated that only the standard range versions of Model 3 and Model Y would be produced at the Shanghai Super Factory in China. At present, Musk seems to have changed his mind.
The domestically produced Tesla Model 3 was once positioned as an entry-level version. In June 2019, Tesla announced that the domestically produced Model 3 standard range upgrade version was officially open for pre-order, with a starting price of 328,000 yuan. It is reported that the motor power of the domestically produced Tesla Model 3 has reached 202Kw, the range has reached 460km, and the maximum speed is 225km/h.
On February 12, we obtained the new version of the domestic Tesla Model 3 declaration map from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The information shows that the car's motor power reaches 202Kw and the maximum speed is 225Km/h. These core data are consistent with the imported Model 3 long-range rear-wheel drive version.
From this, we can judge that Tesla will soon produce the domestically produced Model 3 long-range rear-wheel drive version. We believe that the arrival of the new car will be able to better meet the domestic consumers' car needs.
Overall, Tesla did not seem concerned about the impact of the temporary closure of its Shanghai factory, with its chief financial officer Zach Kirkhorn saying the company was not too worried about its financials taking a major hit from the outbreak because the Shanghai factory had only just started producing cars.
