These days, I always see an unprepossessing "big iron lump" on Weibo. Yes, this is Tesla's latest electric pickup truck - Cybertruck.

As expected, the pickup truck attracted a lot of discussion due to its strange appearance. The public's discussion on the appearance of this pickup truck was very polarized. Some people liked it very much, while the other half sneered at it.

In response to this, on November 24th, US time, Tesla CEO Musk postponed the event to explain why this pickup truck was designed like this.

Musk said that the material used for this pickup truck is 30 times harder cold-rolled steel, which is too hard for a stamping machine to change its shape. If the material is forcibly bent, a deep crease will be left inside, affecting the life of the material, so Tesla designers did not use the traditional curve design when designing this pickup truck.

Despite this, Tesla Cybertruck has received nearly 200,000 orders since its release, of which 42% of customers chose the dual-motor version of CyberTruck, 41% chose the tri-motor version, and the remaining 17% chose the single-motor version.

In short, there is a reason why Cybertruck is ugly.

Tesla may set off a new trend in the pickup truck market

Musk has been planning to make a pickup truck for 7 years, and recently the latest achievements of the Tesla engineering team were finally unveiled. Tesla's electric pickup truck first subverted the traditional appearance of pickup trucks, or more precisely, the appearance of cars.

The entire car does not adopt the curved design commonly used by traditional cars, but is full of lines. The rearview mirrors of the vehicle have been cancelled, making it look like a car in a science fiction movie.

In addition to its stunning appearance, its pre-order volume is also very amazing. Within three days of its release, the pre-order volume has reached 200,000. This has also put a lot of pressure on Ford, Dodge, GM, and Toyota, which have always been heavy players in the US pickup truck market.

Although it is not known how many of these pre-orders will eventually be sold, it is certain that the public is not opposed to this car, and Tesla may create a new trend in the pickup truck market with this car.
