In the first half of the year, TCL Electronics' sales in this market increased by 75% year-on-year. NPD, an authoritative consulting agency focusing on consumer shopping trend research, pointed out that TCL Electronics' brand TV sales share in the US market ranks first and second, second only to Samsung, and the gap with Samsung has been greatly narrowed.
According to the latest data from NPD, in the first three quarters of 2019, TCL Electronics' brand TV sales market share in the United States increased by 3.3 percentage points year-on-year to 16.5%, ranking firmly in the top two; while Samsung, which ranked first, fell by 2.8 percentage points from 22.3% last year to 19.5%. The gap between TCL's brand TV sales market share and Samsung's has narrowed significantly from 9.1 percentage points in the same period last year to 3 percentage points; and in March and July, TCL's brand TV monthly sales data surpassed Samsung, ranking first in sales in the US market.
In addition, the latest data also comes from NPD. Since TCL Electronics entered the Canadian market in November 2018, its sales ranking in Canada has quickly climbed to the top five in less than a year, with a market share of 7.5% in the first three quarters.
According to the announcement, in the first half of 2019, the sales volume of TCL brand TV sets in overseas regions increased by 49.8% year-on-year to 7.07 million units, and the turnover increased by 32.5% year-on-year to HK$10.77 billion. In addition, after the company announced its impressive performance data for the first half of the year, sell-side institutions such as Dongying, CICC, Credit Suisse, Guoyuan, Industrial Bank and First Shanghai successively published research reports expressing optimism and highly affirmed the company's overall performance, especially the performance of its overseas business.
Previously, many investors still felt uncertain about TCL Electronics' growing overseas business, mainly because they were worried that the Sino-US trade friction would suppress or weaken the company's good development momentum in the North American market.
