Tesla has been working to improve vehicle efficiency as much as possible, and now the company is applying for a patent for a new "more efficient" temperature-controlled seat.

Even though Tesla has introduced several new electric vehicles over the past few years, these long-range vehicles have always been highly efficient. While these vehicles are equipped with very efficient powertrains, have strong aerodynamic performance and excellent weight management, Tesla is also looking for other more unusual ways to improve the efficiency of its vehicles.

Previously, Tesla developed a new electromagnetic wiper system that is more energy-efficient than traditional wipers. Now, Tesla is also researching a new seat design that integrates a temperature control system for the seat to better cool and heat the seat, making the vehicle more energy-efficient.

The document shows that Tesla has applied for a patent to adjust the seat surface temperature through liquid, thereby providing passengers with a more comfortable riding experience. It is understood that the name of this patent is "Vehicle seat with integrated temperature control system". The patent shows that Tesla has set up a set of ducts inside the seat to transport liquid and adjust the temperature of the seat surface by heating or cooling the liquid. Compared with traditional seats that can only be heated or ventilated, this technology enables the seat to also have the ability to lower the temperature, thereby improving riding comfort.

In the patent application, Tesla states that there are problems with current ventilated seats:

Ventilation through the seat foam is often not enough to remove excess heat to provide a comfortable ride for the occupants. In addition, conventional heating systems are bulky, take up space in the seat, which makes the seat thicker, and are inefficient because heat must pass through multiple layers of material and heated areas that do not contact the occupants. Therefore, there is a need for improved temperature control systems for automotive seats.

Tesla also described a new car seat design with a climate control system:

The seat includes a seat portion and a back portion coupled to the seat portion, and further includes a temperature control system associated with at least one of the seat portion and the back portion. The temperature control system includes a base and an intermediate layer adjacent to the base, the intermediate layer being passable with a liquid to cool the seat. In addition, the system includes at least one heating element disposed between the intermediate layer and a cover layer adjacent to the intermediate layer, and further includes a fluid pump to allow the liquid to flow through the intermediate layer.

Tesla said the seat design is low-cost, low-noise and very energy-efficient, and the temperature control system provides a low-cost, low-noise, energy-efficient method for heating and cooling the seat.
