All-in-one system solution combines electronics with integrated quick-change devices
OnRobot A/S's new digital I/O conversion kit makes it possible for OnRobot end-of-line tools to work with a variety of collaborative and light industrial robot brands. On this basis, all OnRobot products are equipped with a unified mechanical and communication interface based on OnRobot's quick changer, which is now part of all OnRobot products. The newly launched dual quick changer not only provides the above new functions, but also allows manufacturers to mix and match two tools in the same operation cycle according to the operation requirements, maximizing the robot's functions.
“As manufacturers demand more from their robotic applications, end-of-line tooling has become critical to optimizing their investments,” said Enrico Krog Iversen, CEO of OnRobot. “The integration of OnRobot’s quick changers with our other existing tools makes switching between tools and robot types easier than ever before, increasing productivity and speeding up the return on automation investments with increased flexibility and reduced downtime. This brings us one step closer to a unified OnRobot one-stop solution that will enable manufacturers to develop collaborative applications easily, quickly and cost-effectively, regardless of the type of robot they choose.”
One platform for all tools and robot brands
All OnRobot tools are now equipped with the OnRobot Quick Changer, which allows a single cable to serve as the interface between the tool and the communication. This allows manufacturers to switch tools without disconnecting the cable, and the extended communication options also support a variety of robot platforms.
Universal Robots:
For Universal Robots, OnRobot now offers a unified URCap plug-in that allows all tools to work simultaneously even in a single program. For example, when using a dual quick changer, manufacturers can use an RG2 dual gripper and a VG10 vacuum gripper simultaneously in one work cycle, making better use of each Universal Robot. With the help of a unified programming solution, the setup time of Universal Robots is shorter than ever before.
Fieldbus solution (applicable to other robot brands):
All OnRobot products can now operate on a unified communication platform that uses a standard fieldbus protocol to simplify the programming process for all types of robotic tools. The new fieldbus protocol can help manufacturers easily set software values and use more functions through a standard Ethernet cable. Without the need for external cables, the new fieldbus protocol can handle more complex robotics through a simple "plug and play" solution. Tool deployment time is reduced from 3 hours to 30 minutes, so manufacturers can deploy and run collaborative applications faster.
OnRobot WebLogic Solution - Digital I/O (Applicable to all robot types):
OnRobot's latest integrated system solution includes the OnRobot WebLogic interface, which is suitable for robots connected with digital I/O. Through the IP address of the OnRobot Compute Box, manufacturers can use mobile phones or other network-connected devices to log in to the OnRobot WebClient system to monitor the operation of the robot or compile simple robot programs. In addition, based on the feedback values of OnRobot's grippers and sensors, manufacturers can more precisely control the tools, preset software values and develop complex programming logic. The integrated system solution makes OnRobot's tools compatible with more robotic arms, helping manufacturers install and run collaborative applications faster.
Integrated system solutions promote the development of automation in China
As China's influence and position in the global economy continue to grow, OnRobot seizes the opportunity to promote Chinese industries to produce and manufacture in a more flexible and competitive way. With the latest integrated system solutions, OnRobot will continue to support the strong development trend of China's automation industry. Collaborative robots have now become a common industrial equipment, and the market demand for intuitive collaborative robot accessories is increasing day by day, because these accessories will make it easier and more flexible to build a complete collaborative robot solution.
James Taylor, the new general manager of OnRobot Asia Pacific, believes that China has great potential in automation and collaborative robot solutions. He pointed out: "Many Chinese companies have realized the potential of robot solutions, and employees and robots can work closely together to play their respective advantages, but this potential has not yet been fully developed. In China, many areas of work, such as machine adaptation, polishing, processing, assembly and packaging, are still mostly done manually."
“Many Chinese manufacturers still believe that automation is complex, time-consuming, space-consuming and expensive. As a company that lowers the barrier to entry to automation technology, we are pleased to help manufacturers quickly benefit from robotic solutions while increasing production flexibility and improving the working environment,” said James Taylor.
Continuously improving gripper tools to meet new customer needs
OnRobot is vigorously expanding its global market influence and product portfolio. By 2020, OnRobot will provide 40 products to meet different automation production needs and make work tasks easier and more flexible.
In addition to the new integrated system solution that simplifies automation, OnRobot is also constantly improving its end-of-line tooling products to adapt to changing market needs. The redesigned RG2 and RG6 grippers are stronger, more sensitive, easier to install, and have reached TÜV CAT.3 safety level; the improved gecko gripper's touch pad can pick up objects weighing up to 6.5 kg (depending on the object material).
