The heads of the China-US high-level economic and trade consultations held a telephone call to discuss the 13th round of China-US high-level economic and trade consultations.

 

 

On the morning of September 5, Liu He, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Vice Premier of the State Council, and head of the Chinese side of the China-US Comprehensive Economic Dialogue, spoke with US Trade Representative Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Mnuchin by phone at their request. The two sides agreed to hold the 13th round of high-level economic and trade consultations between China and the United States in Washington in early October, and the two sides will maintain close communication before that. The working level will conduct serious consultations in mid-September to make full preparations for substantive progress in the high-level consultations.


The two sides agreed that they should work together and take practical actions to create favorable conditions for the consultations. Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan, Governor of the People's Bank of China Yi Gang, and Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission Ning Jizhe participated in the call.


Affected by this, the secondary market has reacted as of press time, with the three major A-share indices all rising by more than 1%, with all sectors rising, and the major financial sectors collectively strengthening. The Japanese stock market's gains expanded, with the Nikkei 225 index rising by 2% and the Topix index rising by 1.9%. U.S. stock index futures rose, with the September futures of the S&P 500 index rising by 0.8%.
