According to foreign media reports, Tesla plans to launch the "Tesla Semi" self-driving truck in 2020. In addition to cargo transportation, some companies have thought of other feasible applications, such as the Tesla Semi electric RV.
RVs are often associated with freedom. Many people want to use their vehicles as their own homes, so they can be on the road at any time and "take their homes with them". This concept is very attractive to users around the world. Electric RVs are also a very attractive concept, and may be able to take RVs to a whole new level. Conventional RVs are usually "fuel guzzlers". If car companies can provide pure electric RVs, it may reduce the cost of using the vehicles and reduce the pollution of such vehicles to the environment.
From the perspective of car use, electric RVs will increase the freedom of car use. If the battery life is sufficient, users can drive during the day and park at a place with charging equipment at night to recharge. If maintenance is required, the owner can also do it at night. Currently, many companies want to tentatively enter this field.
A German RV company has released a full-size electric RV prototype, and the American Winnebago RV company has also released a pure electric RV platform, but neither company currently has a good enough electric drive system. The Tesla Semi is very good in terms of battery life and functionality, and may be used as a platform for long-distance pure electric RVs.
RV design company Vanlifer believes that Tesla Semi is expected to become an excellent electric RV platform. Tesla promises that Tesla Semi can save users $200,000 in two years, and its range is up to 500 miles (fully loaded). This is undoubtedly an ideal choice for electric RVs. Users can travel long distances without the problem of extremely high fuel consumption.
Vanlifer used the Tesla Semi as the basis for the design of its electric RV.
It is reported that the Tesla Semi-Home concept car designed by Vanlifer has six beds inside, equipped with a full kitchen, living room, toilet and other luxury configurations covered by high-end RVs and campers. Vanlifer emphasized that this Tesla Semi (RV) with a range of 500 miles is priced at US$180,000 (approximately RMB 1.24 million), which is actually not expensive considering the pricing of large luxury RVs. Of course, this price does not include the prices of other RV accessories. Vanlifer pointed out that the Autopilot system and even the future fully autonomous driving function may become a major competitive advantage of the Tesla Semi modified RV. The driver can spend more time enjoying the scenery along the way without worrying about the driving task.
