NXP has announced the launch of EdgeVerse, a product portfolio targeting edge computing.
The EdgeVerse platform includes the company's scalable embedded processors, security, software and turnkey solutions.
NXP has also launched the EdgeLock™ security brand (part of the EdgeVerse platform) to complement its wide range of security solutions, from discrete security elements to integrated embedded security.
NXP Semiconductors recently announced the launch of the EdgeVerse platform brand at the NXP Connects 2019 conference. The scalable and secure edge computing solution EdgeVerse platform will achieve one of the most comprehensive edge computing portfolios under a unified brand.
Edge computing is a distributed computing paradigm that processes data close to the data source. With the increasing number of Internet of Things (IoT), connected cars and industrial applications, latency, privacy and bandwidth have become key limiting factors, and edge computing solves this problem by getting closer to the data source side. As the demand for real-time decision-making increases with artificial intelligence (AI) on devices, the industry's shift to edge computing is becoming increasingly important.
Introduction EdgeVerse platform brand
provides the foundation for high-performance and energy-efficient computing through the industry's broadest portfolio of scalable embedded processing products, which can power numerous edge applications in the industrial, IoT and automotive markets. It
consists of NXP's complete portfolio of industrial, IoT and automotive embedded processors, world-class security, enhanced short-range connectivity solutions, turnkey solutions, signature software solutions for machine learning (ML), audio/video experience and device management software platforms.
Including NXP's embedded processing portfolio of i.MX and Layerscape application processors, K32, LPC and Kinetis microcontrollers, i.MX RT crossover processors and automotive microcontrollers and processors.
EdgeLock security portfolio as part of the platform. This includes a range of products from discrete security elements to processors with advanced integrated security; categorized by easy-to-understand security levels.
Inspire and simplify AI at the edge by providing tools and engines for machine learning, reasoning and easy connection to the cloud. The EdgeVerse platform includes the NXP eIQ machine learning software development environment, the Immersiv3D audio experience kit, and the EdgeScale device management platform, allowing NXP customers to use existing models, or quickly design, train, and optimize new models for deployment across the NXP portfolio.
Combined with NXP's strong ecosystem support and edge computing IoT support, and more than 30 years of successful experience in embedded processing. Customers can leverage NXP's ecosystem of hundreds of tool providers and original design manufacturers (ODMs) verified by NXP, who have extensive experience in industrial IoT support and develop application-specific solutions for the edge.
Introduction to EdgeLock: EdgeVerse's security platform portfolio
The EdgeLock portfolio covers NXP's well-known discrete security elements, secure authenticator products for interfaces, and embedded security products in a wide range of application processors and microcontroller portfolios. EdgeLock brings complete authentication and privacy protection to the edge, with security from edge nodes to gateways and clouds. Security features within the platform include secure boot trust anchors, on-chip encryption, instant security solutions, mutual device authentication, secure device management suites, wireless (OTA) updates, and lifecycle management capabilities.
The EdgeLock brand also features several combinations of protection against physical and logical attacks, including hardware, software and system-level security features. By creating these security solutions, NXP is addressing one of the biggest challenges facing thousands of embedded developers today, providing them with a simple way to implement security features without bringing in senior security experts to interpret security specifications.
About EdgeLock SE050
As part of the EdgeVerse platform, NXP also announced the EdgeLock SE050 plug-and-play security chip to protect Industry 4.0 and IoT applications - from edge to cloud. The Common Criteria (CC) EAL 6+ certified EdgeLock SE050 makes it easy to achieve high-performance security for sensing and control. In addition, it simplifies the deployment of IoT services and the onboarding of edge devices to public and private clouds, edge computing platforms and infrastructure.
The EdgeVerse platform is available now. EdgeLock SE050 is expected to be available on July 31.
