According to People's Daily Online, in recent years, as new energy vehicles have become more and more popular in my country, quality issues related to new energy vehicles have also gradually begun to emerge. Among the complaint information collected by the People's Daily Online Automobile Quality Complaint Platform, complaints about new energy vehicles have gradually increased. Among them, the actual mileage is far from the publicity, and the battery degradation leads to shortened mileage. These problems are more concentrated and have become a worry for car consumers when using cars.

The battery life of a certain brand of pure electric vehicle has been reduced sharply. The owner complained that the battery life of the battery of a certain brand of pure electric vehicle has only 5 kilometers after 4 years of use.

Mr. Zhang bought the EV150 model of BAIC New Energy in 2014. Recently, his car has a problem of mileage reduction. It stops after driving about 5 kilometers. The car stops on the roadside, but the mileage keeps dropping until it reaches 0. He was left stranded twice. "Especially in winter, once the air conditioner is turned on, the vehicle's mileage is sometimes only 5 kilometers," said Mr. Zhang.

After 4 years of use, the range is only 5 kilometers? The range of new energy vehicles has become a new "pain"

Mr. Zhang told reporters that the vehicle's power battery fault light often came on before, and it would return to normal after restarting a few times. However, now, the mileage drops rapidly after driving only a few kilometers. Even after a deep battery recharge at the 4S shop, it still didn't work, so he sent it to the 4S shop for repair again.

The reporter interviewed the person in charge of the BAIC Wanbang Star 4S store where Mr. Zhang bought the car. The person admitted that Mr. Zhang's car had been used for 4-5 years and did have battery problems, which might be caused by unstable voltage. The car is still being repaired for free. Because the battery model of the EV150 model is older, there may be a situation where there are no spare parts, so the repair time is longer. Mr. Zhang's car was sent for repair on February 15, and it has been repaired for more than a month. The reporter interviewed the relevant personnel of the BAIC New Energy Public Relations Department, who said that they would provide customers with replacement vehicles or transportation subsidies for support, and would coordinate relevant spare parts as soon as possible.

The discrepancy between the driving range and the actual driving range has become the biggest "pain" for new energy vehicle consumers.

Mr. Zhang's experience is not an isolated case. There are many cases about mileage on the People's Daily Online Automobile Quality Complaint Platform. Many car owners have reported that the actual mileage has dropped sharply, and the mileage is inconsistent with the actual publicity. In addition to EV series products, complaints about the mileage of other new energy vehicles also occur from time to time. Consumers generally reflect that the mileage of new cars in winter is greatly reduced, which is inconsistent with official publicity.

After 4 years of use, the range is only 5 kilometers? The range of new energy vehicles has become a new "pain"

Many new energy vehicle owners told reporters that, like the "fuel consumption value" of fuel vehicles, the fuel consumption during daily driving is difficult to reach the fuel consumption standard of "comprehensive working conditions" given by the manufacturer, but the difference between the two is not too big. New energy vehicles are different. Although car owners have a certain degree of foresight about the "gap" between the endurance value given by the company and the actual value, in actual use, the gap between the two is a bit too large.

Master Wang, a driver of a travel platform in Beijing, said that the pure electric car he drives claims to have a maximum range of more than 400 kilometers. In spring and autumn, the range may reach about 300 kilometers, but in winter, if the air conditioner is turned on, the range may only be about 250 kilometers. "The actual mileage is only about 3/5 of the advertised mileage. I dare not turn on the air conditioner in winter." Master Wang complained to the reporter. It is not just Master Wang. In various forums about new energy vehicles, most complaints about new energy vehicles are concentrated on "the mileage does not match the advertised mileage."

"At present, the range of electric vehicles has generally increased from 150 kilometers to more than 300 kilometers, but customers' complaints have not decreased because the actual range is lower than expected." Ouyang Minggao, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, also mentioned this at the previous China Electric Vehicle Hundred People Conference. Although the actual range is closely related to the environment, temperature and driving habits, the "false exaggeration" in the publicity of car companies has caused car owners to be more dissatisfied with the range of electric vehicles.

It is urgent to stipulate the actual range test standards for new energy vehicles and regulate the battery attenuation range

Wang Binggang, leader of the expert group of the National New Energy Vehicle Innovation Engineering Project, told reporters that the mileage advertised by automobile manufacturers is the mileage under NEDC conditions in the test site, which is often inconsistent with actual driving conditions.

Wang Binggang also pointed out that "electric vehicles rely entirely on electricity for heating. If the air conditioner is turned on in winter, the energy consumption will increase by about 20% to 30%, reducing the driving range by 1/4 to 1/3. In other words, the driving range of 400 kilometers at normal temperature may drop to less than 300 kilometers in winter."

However, if the battery life decays too quickly in a short period of time, it is a battery quality problem. "Most cars nowadays are only used for two or three years. If poor quality batteries are installed, their performance will decay quickly, and the consistency of use time will become very poor. If the battery life is short, the driving range will decrease with the use time. In this case, the quality of the battery will be clearly manifested. If the driving range is significantly reduced too early, it is a product quality problem." Wang Binggang said.

At present, the maximum range advertised by most new energy vehicle companies will be discounted in actual driving. The actual range is affected by driving speed, road conditions, personal driving habits and temperature, and is often significantly less than the range advertised by the manufacturer. In response to the chaos in the promotion of electric vehicle range in China, Qiu Baochang, director of Beijing Huijia Law Firm, believes that range is an important reference factor for consumers when choosing a vehicle. Car companies should not promote idealized range values to consumers, let alone use them as selling points. Manufacturers should clearly inform consumers of the gap between the maximum range, NEDC comprehensive operating mileage and actual road conditions during the promotion or sales process, and the data must be true and not false, so that consumers can make choices based on a full understanding of the actual situation.

At the just concluded National People's Congress, the development of new energy vehicles was mentioned many times in the government work report. The development of my country's new energy vehicle industry is entering a new era. Zhu Huarong, president of Changan Automobile, also pointed out that my country has become the world's largest market for new energy vehicles, but key technologies for complete vehicles and some core components have not yet been broken through. Problems exposed in rapid development require government regulatory authorities to strengthen supervision. Luo Lei, deputy secretary-general of the China Automobile Dealers Association, called for "relevant departments to formulate testing standards for driving range in a relatively short period of time, and companies should also increase investment in research and development to achieve innovation and breakthroughs in battery technology as soon as possible, so that the market can achieve a virtuous cycle and enable my country's new energy vehicle industry to truly achieve high-quality development."
