Zeng Shizhe, vice president of NIO Battery Systems, said that the delivery of 360Wh/kg lithium battery cells is good news for all NIO car owners, who can continue to enjoy the dividends brought by battery upgrades.
In fact, as early as the end of 2022, Weilan New Energy's vehicle-grade semi-solid-state batteries have successfully rolled off the production line. At the beginning of this year, NIO President Qin Lihong also revealed that if there are no surprises, NIO's 150kWh battery pack will be launched this year. It is launched half a year and can be used during the summer.
NIO also stated at the press conference on May 24 that the 150kWh battery pack will be launched in July. The battery uses semi-solid electrolyte, silicon-carbon composite negative electrode material , and ultra-high nickel positive electrode material. It has a single energy density of 360Wh/kg and a cruising range of up to 1,000 kilometers.
According to NIO itself, the biggest highlight of the 150kWh battery is the "in-situ solid-liquid electrolyte solidification". The so-called in-situ solidification is to gradually convert the current liquid electrolyte into a solid state, rather than a one-step all-solid state method. In short, NIO’s battery is a semi-solid-state battery, with “safety” and “high energy density” as its labels.
Data show that Weilan New Energy, as the leader in solid-state battery industrialization in China, is the only industrialization platform for solid-state battery technology in the Clean Energy Laboratory of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Headquartered in Beijing, it has four major bases: Fangshan in Beijing, Liyang in Jiangsu, Huzhou in Zhejiang and Zibo in Shandong. Among them, the Huzhou base in Zhejiang is the automotive power battery production base of Weilan New Energy , which carries the functions of Weilan automotive power battery technology transformation, product development verification, battery manufacturing, quality management and control, etc.
