Arasan, a leading provider of semiconductor IP for all mobile products including automotive, announces the launch of its second generation CAN IP
Arasan has announced the immediate availability of its 2nd generation CAN IP for the CAN 2.0 and CAN FD specifications. The controllers have been re-architected and upgraded to reduce power and area, making them suitable for FPGA applications in addition to Arasan’s main ASIC IP market. Although the automotive space is not as demanding in terms of power as mobile phones, it is still dependent on battery power, and the power saving techniques Arasan has implemented on these controllers help conserve battery power. FPGA adoption is very common in the automotive and industrial sectors, so area optimization is another standard set for these next generation controllers.
Arasan's second generation CAN controller core performs serial communications in accordance with the CAN2.0 and CAN FD specifications. The IP core supports CAN 2.0A and CAN 2.0B protocols, TT-CAN, CAN-FD (ISO 11898-1.2015, as well as earlier ISO and non-ISO Bosch specifications), and is fully programmable for CAN 2.0 and multiple devices up to 1 Mbps. Our second generation CAN IP core is designed for increased reliability, faster error reporting, and an advanced error management unit to prevent data loss during transmission and prevent message collisions.
Arasan's second generation IP controller cores can be easily integrated with the host processor using standard AMBA AHB/AXI interfaces. Our highly configurable controller cores support programmable interrupt controllers, data and baud rates, acceptance filters and flexible buffering schemes so they can be fine-tuned to the specific needs of the application.
Arasan's second generation CAN IP is built and designed entirely by Arasan's internal team, with direct engineering support from the designers. In addition, the IP core is designed in the United States, so it can be used in projects that require US security clearances for support personnel. In addition to the automotive field, defense and aviation are also a major target market for Arasan's fault-tolerant CAN IP.
Arasan's CAN IP has achieved compliance with multiple licensees and ASIL requirements.
