FlexNoC configurability and performance are key to designing high-performance computing IP platforms for ADAS applications
Reading, UK and Campbell, CA, USA - May 3, 2022 - Sondrel and Arteris IP, the industry-leading provider of System-on-Chip (SoC) IP that delivers Network-on-Chip (NoC) interconnect and IP deployment software to accelerate SoC creation, today announced that Sondrel has adopted FlexNoC interconnect IP in its next-generation Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) architecture. Arteris IP ’s on-chip interconnect was selected for its configurability and performance. The product meets the requirements of the SFA 350A multi-channel automotive IP platform. FlexNoC provides the ability to design the NoC to match the performance of the IP blocks to ensure data flows in, out, and around the SoC at the right speed. It enables designers to quickly design and verify chips on time and on budget, precisely meeting customer silicon performance parameters.
The SFA 350A is part of Sondrel's Architecting the Future™ IP reference platform family, which provides a fast track to a custom SoC. The design focuses on ADAS to support driverless and automotive applications to meet ISO 26262 standard requirements. It has four sensor channels, either passive optical camera inputs or active channels using LiDAR and RADAR.
The product design is an extremely sophisticated platform due to the scalability and flexibility of its frame architecture. This allows the processor units of the chip's four channels to be selected according to the processing power required by the application without making any changes to the rest of the chip. This modular approach makes the system versatile and scalable. By combining the same SFA 350A quad-core chips together to form a cluster, powerful solutions can be created.
“Through our years of collaboration with Arteris, we knew that FlexNoc would reliably deliver the product we needed, backed by excellent technical support,” said Edwin Loverseed, Director of Engineering at Sondrel. “This SoC interconnect provides a complete, comprehensive solution from architectural exploration to physical implementation and verification.”
“ Sondrel specializes in large, complex SoCs and continues to push the envelope in terms of complexity and advanced nodes, ” said K. Charles Janac, president and CEO of Arteris IP. “ We are excited that FlexNoC will enable Sondrel designers to continue to lead the way in creating high-performance computing solutions that drive innovation in the automotive industry.”
