If IGBT has solved the bottleneck of automobile electrification, then MCU is the key to solving the problem of automobile intelligence and plays a decisive role in the development of automobile intelligence.
Performance advantages and automotive-grade quality endorsement
BYD Semiconductor continues to conquer key intelligent technologies and further expands its automotive-grade 8-bit general-purpose MCU series product lineup. In March 2022, it launched the new automotive-grade 8-bit MCU BS9000AMXX series, and the client application development project has been fully launched. This is another important breakthrough for BYD Semiconductor in the automotive MCU market.

The BS9000AMXX series is an automotive-grade, high-quality 8-bit general-purpose MCU. The chip uses the S8051 core with a maximum main frequency of 24MHZ. It is based on the standard 8051 instruction pipeline structure and includes 31KB FLASH, 2KB SRAM, and 1KB EEPROM. The communication supports 1 IIC, 2 UARTs (one of which supports Lin2.1 protocol), 1 SPI, and up to 7 PWMs. It supports BLDC motor control, up to 24 12-bit resolution ADCs, and up to 26 I/Os. It also integrates a high-reliability capacitive detection button module, including TSSOP28 and QFN20 packaging.
BS9000-AMXX Series Product Features
As early as 2018, BYD Semiconductor successfully launched the first generation of 8-bit automotive-grade MCU chips, achieving a breakthrough in localization. The newly launched BS9000AMXX series chips have richer peripheral resources, such as: adding LIN2.1 communication, SPI communication, PWM support complementary output for BLDC control, support for online upgrades, and fully meet the industry's development needs for product system complexity and system power consumption.
In addition, compared with similar products in the industry, the BS9000AMXX series products use the 1T S8051 core, single instruction clock cycle, main frequency of 24Mhz, faster computing speed, richer product resources, greatly reducing the cost and complexity of automotive software, and creating smarter chip solutions with higher functional safety and information security.
8-bit automotive MCU resource comparison
As a key component used in the field of body safety control, automotive-grade MCU chips test the company's understanding of CPU, storage, simulation and other technologies, as well as the entire vehicle. It requires the accumulation of experience and time in terms of safety and reliability.
BYD Semiconductor has been engaged in the field of automotive-grade chips for more than ten years, with strict requirements on functions, safety, reliability, etc., and strictly follows the TS16949 standard production control process. The BS9000AMXX series MCU products also reach the AEC-Q100 GRADE 1 quality level.
Automotive-grade quality standards
MCU can implement different controls for different application scenarios. As the core of internal calculation and processing of automotive electronic systems, from wipers, windows to seats, from safety systems to in-vehicle entertainment systems, to body control and engine control, almost all of them are inseparable from MCU chips. Every innovation in automotive electronics must be realized through the calculation and control functions of MCU. BS9000AMXX series products can meet a variety of application scenarios in automotive electronics, such as: interior lights, ambient lights, door handles, air conditioning touch panels, various sensor applications, BLDC motor control, etc.
MCU is moving towards higher goals
Relying on its deep accumulation in microcontroller technology, BYD Semiconductor entered the MCU field in 2007. Starting with industrial-grade MCU, it insisted on the dual route of performance and reliability. It now has a "wide product line, high coverage" product lineup including industrial-grade general-purpose MCU chips, industrial-grade three-in-one MCU chips, automotive-grade touch MCU chips, automotive-grade general-purpose MCU chips and battery management MCU chips, with cumulative shipments exceeding 2 billion.
According to Omdia statistics, BYD Semiconductor's cumulative shipments of automotive-grade MCU chips rank first among domestic manufacturers. In 2018, BYD Semiconductor launched the first generation of 8-bit automotive-grade MCU chips, and in 2019, it launched the first generation of 32-bit automotive-grade MCU chips, which were installed in batches on BYD's full range of models, taking a solid step forward in the domestic automotive-grade MCU market. In November 2020, BYD Semiconductor's automotive-grade MCU chips also won the "Global Electronics Achievement Award for Outstanding Product Performance of the Year" for its excellent market performance and reliable product performance.
In the future, BYD Semiconductor will continue to strengthen its close cooperation with domestic foundries and packaging and testing plants, and will launch 32-bit high-end single-core series, dual-core series, and multi-core series of high-performance automotive-grade MCU chips with a wider range of applications and continuously leading technology.
