March 18, 2022, Shanghai - Arm Technology (China) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Arm Technology") and SemiDrive Technology, a leading domestic automotive chip company, have reached a strategic partnership. In the future, the two parties will carry out in-depth cooperation in the fields of ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), autonomous driving, etc. Based on Arm Technology's independently developed XPU architecture, combined with SemiDrive Technology's advanced automotive chip definition, design and R&D capabilities, we will create products based on the next-generation automotive electronic and electrical architecture to help China's automotive industry develop intelligently.
Wu Xiong'ang, Chairman and General Manager of ARM Technology, said: "In response to the common industry demands for computing power, algorithms and security raised by intelligent driving, ARM Technology has developed a high-performance, high-computing XPU super-domain system solution based on the open source super-domain architecture (xDSA) to provide the 'core power' for the localization of smart car chips. I am very pleased that SemiDrive has become our partner and we will work together to innovate for the development of domestic high-performance in-vehicle fusion computing platforms."
Based on a deep understanding of the automotive industry, Arm Technology has built a high-performance in-vehicle fusion computing platform based on the open source hyper-domain architecture (xDSA) and relying on its self-developed XPU intelligent data stream processor and system. Among them, the self-developed NPU processor is compatible with the world's first open source NPU ISA (neural network processor instruction set architecture) released by the "Intelligent Computing Industry Technology Innovation Alliance (ONIA)" in 2021, and actively leverages the rich ecological resources of more than 100 ONIA member units to jointly help the domestic autonomous driving industry gain advantages in high-performance, high-computing power SoC research and development, manufacturing, and supply chain security.
With the mission of "defining the future with 'chips' to enable smart travel", CoreDrive Technology provides high-performance and highly reliable automotive chips for future smart travel. CoreDrive Technology's product planning covers four major business areas: smart cockpit + central gateway + autonomous driving + high-performance MCU. It is the first semiconductor company in China to pass the German Rhine ISO26262 ASIL-D functional safety process certification. It has also passed the AEC-Q100 reliability certification, ISO 26262 ASIL B functional safety product certification and national secret certification. It is currently the first automotive chip company in China to have four certificates in one, providing all-round protection for the safe driving of smart cars.
Qiu Yujing, CEO of SemiDrive, said: "ARM has a deep understanding of the needs and challenges of the smart car market. Its high-computing XPU IP is highly consistent with SemiDrive's chip product needs. We hope to provide more excellent application scenario solutions through long-term and in-depth cooperation to meet the differentiated needs of automakers for future chips."
At present, ARM's self-developed XPU product series has been taped out and mass-produced by a number of excellent local automotive chip manufacturers, and the planned 300-1000TOPS high-computing-power autonomous driving chip design will serve major domestic host manufacturers. In the future, ARM will continue to promote the evolution of the CPU+XPU+system software architecture-level technology route, and work with partners to create a high-performance, high-computing-power super-domain system solution and software layer ecosystem.
