TuSimple has also established a global partnership with Volkswagen's TRATON Group to develop autonomous driving systems for heavy trucks, and has worked with Navistar to jointly develop L4 autonomous trucks, with the goal of going into production in 2024. TuSimple and Aeva have been working together since 2019 to commercialize Aeva 4D lidar.

Aeva 4D LiDAR uses frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) technology to support mass production of autonomous driving. In addition, Aeva's 4D LiDAR can also measure the instantaneous speed of each pixel, has a long range, high resolution, and is not affected by LiDAR or sunlight, specifically targeting mass market applications.

“TuSimple is a leader in autonomous trucking, and our solutions are critical to enabling the commercialization of autonomous trucks,” said Soroush Salehian, co-founder and CEO of Aeva. “We look forward to working with TuSimple to bring our products to mass production of autonomous trucks.”

“Aeva’s 4D LiDAR solution offers outstanding performance, can measure instantaneous speed and distance at longer ranges, and when combined with other sensors in our technology portfolio, can complement our autonomous systems,” said Chuck Price, Chief Product Officer at TuSimple.

In addition, Aeva is working with 30 top OEMs and industry players in the ADAS and autonomous driving industries, has received strategic investment from Porsche, and has established partnerships with some of the largest Tier 1 suppliers, including Germany's ZF and Japan's Denso.
