Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD) today introduced the SBR10M100P5Q and SBR8M100P5Q. These automotive-qualified Super Barrier Rectifier (SBR®) diodes use patented and proprietary technology to significantly reduce power dissipation and lower operating temperatures in automotive applications. When used as recirculation diodes in DC-DC buck-boost converters for automotive daytime running light (DRL) applications, these devices can improve system efficiency by up to 5% while reducing operating temperatures by up to 5°C.
The SBR10M100P5Q (10A, 100V) and SBR8M100P5Q (8A, 100V) feature low forward voltage drop, ultra-low reverse leakage, and fast switching speeds, which can reduce system efficiency losses by up to 30% compared to Schottky barrier diode technology, resulting in even greater savings in energy consumption and operating expenses. Reduced heat generation reduces cooling component costs and provides a more reliable end product.
SBR technology is a direct replacement for existing Schottky diodes, providing immediate benefits without costly redesign and saving time in marketing existing systems that meet more stringent standards.
In addition to DRLs, the SBR10M100P5Q and SBR8M100P5Q can also be deployed in other product applications as they are more efficient and reliable than Schottky diodes in polarity protection, switching, blocking, and AC-DC and DC-DC conversion.
The SBR10M100P5Q and SBR8M100P5Q SBR diodes meet AEC-Q101 automotive specifications and are available on a PPAP basis. Both are available in the PowerDI®5 package.
