According to foreign media reports, China uses cybersecurity technology to provide comprehensive protection for safety-relevant vehicle components and manufacturers to prevent them from being attacked by hackers.

Continental is implementing encryption processes for the latest MK C1 brake system for the first time. The company is hardening all potential attack points and implementing a multi-layered cybersecurity protection approach:

The first level: providing protection for individual electronic systems;

The second level: providing protection for the communication layer between vehicle systems;

The third level: providing protection for the vehicle's external interfaces;

Level 4: Provides protection for data processing outside the vehicle to prevent vehicle theft and tampering. This level of protection also includes cloud and back-end solutions.

Mainland China also adopted the end-to-end solution provided by Argus Cyber Security, which greatly improved the protection capabilities of its network solution.

When it comes to cybersecurity, Continental has learned from other industries and advanced technologies, which are based on risk analysis and are designed to identify network vulnerabilities. Many automakers have also benefited from this, using Continental's secure network architecture to transfer their core technologies into their systems.

Cybersecurity is an asymmetric challenge. Although China has paid attention to the security of various systems, all hackers need to do is find a single vulnerability to break into its system.

To this end, Continental has introduced an incident response management system that adds a new layer of security protection and can respond immediately if it is attacked by a cyber attack. The system was developed by the Israeli startup Agus Cybersecurity Ltd., which Continental acquired last fall and is now integrating it into the Continental subsidiary Elektrobit.

Continental will also use its expertise to provide cybersecurity support to automakers.
