On December 26, the Information Office of the People's Government of Tai'an City held a press conference on "Green Energy Development". The Tai'an Energy Bureau introduced the city's green energy development and answered questions from reporters on the current measures and results of microgrid construction, photovoltaic development, and energy storage capital construction.

Since the beginning of this year, under the strong leadership of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government and with the strong support of all sectors of society, the Tai'an Energy Bureau has fully implemented the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, closely focusing on promoting the major national strategy of the Yellow River and the strategic goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality", anchoring the general requirements of "looking high and far, striving to be the first", focusing on the construction of a new energy system, and highlighting the creation of the three major priorities of "Energy Storage Capital", "Taishan Lithium Valley" and "Photovoltaic + Equipment Manufacturing Base". We have worked together to overcome difficulties and achieved remarkable results in green energy development.

1. Make every effort to build a "energy storage capital" of tens of millions of kilowatts. Based on Tai'an's unique resource endowment and geographical conditions, we will make every effort to build a "energy storage capital" of tens of millions of kilowatts, and build a new multi-energy storage system with pumped storage, salt cavern storage, and electrochemical storage as the main energy storage, and hydrogen production storage, heat storage and cold storage as the auxiliary energy storage. At present, Tai'an ranks first in the province in terms of the scale of pumped storage power stations under construction and in operation, the scale of new energy storage, and the number of energy storage equipment manufacturing companies. Pumped storage has been expanded and upgraded. The first phase of Tai'an Pumped Storage Power Station with a capacity of 1 million kilowatts and the second phase with a capacity of 1.8 million kilowatts have been put into operation. The first unit will be connected to the grid in 2027. The third phase with a capacity of 450,000 kilowatts and the Liangzhuang power station with a capacity of 1 million kilowatts are being included in the national medium- and long-term plan for pumped storage. Salt cavern energy storage has been extended into a group. The first 10,000-kilowatt salt cavern energy storage demonstration project in China has been put into operation. The 300,000-kilowatt compressed air energy storage project of China Energy Storage, the largest in China and the world's leading in technology, will be officially connected to the grid for power generation in May 2024; China Power Construction's 2×300,000-kilowatt and China Energy Construction's 350,000-kilowatt projects will start construction on December 28; the construction of the energy storage equipment industrial park will be accelerated, and the China Energy Storage and Frontier Power energy storage equipment manufacturing projects will start construction in 2024. Electrochemical energy storage has developed steadily, and the planning and preparation of electrochemical energy storage power stations have been initiated. The Shandong Expressway Xintai Electrochemical Energy Storage Power Station and other projects have been accelerated to achieve the integrated promotion of "source, grid, load and storage". Actively explore new formats and models such as lava energy storage and carbon dioxide energy storage. It is planned that the city's energy storage installed capacity will reach 4 million kilowatts by 2025 and 10 million kilowatts by 2030, becoming an important regional power grid energy storage peak-shaving center in the province.

2. Actively build a "Taishan Lithium Valley" worth hundreds of billions of yuan. Construct a spatial layout of "one core and four zones", with Feicheng as the core leading area, focusing on the development of new lithium battery materials, sodium-ion battery manufacturing and waste battery recycling industries; Xintai City, Tai'an High-tech Zone, Daiyue District, and Ningyang County as expansion areas, focusing on the development of battery cell manufacturing, electrolytes, system integration equipment and other projects. At present, there are nearly 30 lithium battery-related companies in Tai'an, with an output value of over 10 billion yuan, and a full life cycle industrial chain of "lithium concentrate processing-basic lithium salt-battery materials-battery component assembly-waste battery recycling" has basically been formed. The Tai'an New Energy Power Equipment Materials Cluster won the top ten advanced manufacturing clusters in the province; the Feicheng New Battery Electrode Materials Industry Cluster was selected as a national-level small and medium-sized enterprise characteristic industry cluster. 3. Vigorously develop clean energy. Adhere to the principle of building first and then breaking, and steadily advance, and promote the transformation of energy supply from traditional energy to new energy. Give full play to the bottom-line guarantee role of coal-fired power, and accelerate the construction of major coal-fired power projects. The Xintai ultra-supercritical power plant will start construction on December 27. Optimize the installed capacity structure of coal-fired power, and continue to promote the elimination and shutdown of inefficient small coal-fired power units with a single unit capacity of less than 300,000 kilowatts. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, a total of 17 inefficient coal-fired power units with a total installed capacity of 195,000 kilowatts were shut down. Strengthen the effective supplement of "external electricity into Shandong". The Tai'an section of "Gong Electricity into Shandong" took the lead in completing the processing of 7 major certificates in the provinces along the line, and is currently under rapid construction. Vigorously develop clean energy. Tai'an has built the largest agricultural and photovoltaic complementary base in the coal mining subsidence area in Shandong Province by utilizing the vast area of coal mining subsidence. At the same time, it has implemented 3 county-wide distributed photovoltaic pilot projects, and the city's photovoltaic installed capacity has reached 3.1329 million kilowatts. As of the end of November 2023, the city's new energy installed capacity reached 4.9016 million kilowatts, accounting for 56.12% of the total power installed capacity; new energy power generation reached 6.227 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 33.3% of the total power generation.
