On October 30, the world's largest and most powerful 100-megawatt liquid flow battery energy storage peak-shaving power station, which was technically supported by the team of Li Xianfeng, a researcher from the Energy Storage Technology Research Department of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DNL17), was officially connected to the grid for power generation. The power station was built and operated by Dalian Hengliu Energy Storage Power Station Co., Ltd., and the battery system was designed and manufactured by Dalian Rongke Energy Storage Technology Development Co., Ltd. This project is the first national large-scale chemical energy storage demonstration project approved by the National Energy Administration, with a total construction scale of 200 megawatts (MW)/800 megawatt hours (MWh). The first phase of the power station was connected to the grid this time, with a scale of 100 megawatts (MW)/400 megawatt hours (MWh).
The Dalian Liquid Flow Battery Energy Storage Peak-Shaving Power Station connected to the grid this time uses the all-vanadium liquid flow battery energy storage technology independently developed by our institute, which is equivalent to the "power bank" of Dalian City, realizing the peak-shaving and valley-filling of the power grid system. The main function is to provide auxiliary services such as peak-shaving and frequency regulation for the power grid. To a certain extent, it can alleviate the stability problems caused by the large-scale grid connection of renewable energy, promote the power system's consumption of renewable energy power generation, and improve the economic efficiency of power system operation. The Dalian Liquid Flow Battery Energy Storage Peak-Shaving Power Station will increase the grid connection rate of renewable energy, balance the stability of the power grid and improve the reliability of the power grid, which is of great significance to accelerate the application of large-scale energy storage in power peak-shaving and renewable energy grid connection in my country.
The Energy Storage Technology Research Department has always adhered to the innovative development mechanism of "production, learning, research and application", continuously solving key scientific and technological problems in the industrialization process of all-vanadium liquid flow batteries, breaking through the key core technologies of all-vanadium liquid flow battery energy storage, and achieving a series of internationally leading technological achievements. It has carried out industrial promotion at home and abroad, realized the export of my country's liquid flow battery energy storage technology to developed countries, and reflected our international leading position in this field.
