State Grid Corporation of China recently established "building an internationally leading energy Internet enterprise with Chinese characteristics" as a strategic goal to guide the company's long-term development, and the term "energy Internet" has once again become a hot search.
Accenture's recently released report "Restatement of the Value of Energy Internet and Analysis of Overseas Applications" believes that the energy world is undergoing a fundamental transformation and a new energy world has already appeared before us.
In the traditional energy world, energy is a commodity that is limited, centrally developed, and transported in one direction. In the new energy world, energy is more abundant and cleaner, distributed power is more convenient and can be transported in both directions, and both corporate and individual users can enjoy customized energy products and services. Energy Internet and energy marketization complement each other and become accelerators of the new energy world.
This report answers some key questions, such as: Traditional energy and power companies face more competition in the marketization. How can they maintain their competitiveness? What experiences do foreign companies have? Energy Internet makes the development environment of energy and power companies more complex and changeable. How can traditional energy and power companies gain new growth momentum? What are foreign companies doing? How can Chinese energy and power companies switch from old to new momentum, and what new capabilities are needed? And so on.
The report said that the impact of the energy internet has caught many traditional power companies off guard. Most companies can only cope with challenges by solving single problems in development, such as optimizing the access of distributed renewable energy and shortening user response time. "Restatement of Energy Internet Value and Analysis of Overseas Applications"
The report "Energy Internet 4.0: Creating the Future with Change" released by Accenture in 2019 predicts that energy technology and digital innovation are changing the traditional industrial value chain of energy and related industries, and leading the construction of a new energy ecosystem. It is estimated that from 2018 to 2050, the total investment in the global energy Internet will be about 38 trillion US dollars, which will release huge market value.
In 2020, the market size of China's energy internet is expected to exceed US$940 billion, accounting for about 7% of the country's GDP that year. The market size of energy internet in Europe and the United States is expected to be about US$1.1 trillion in 2020. China's energy internet market is on par with Europe and the United States, accounting for almost half of the world's market.
The business model of the energy Internet is becoming increasingly clear. Seven models, including distribution and dispatching operation optimization, system asset operation and maintenance services, comprehensive energy solution integration, equity participation in new energy producers, energy and derivatives trading, energy production and finance platform, and data asset operation, have been put into practice in China, and a cross-border ecosystem is beginning to take shape.
The report believes that the composite application of new energy technology and digital technology is subverting the traditional energy industry. The combination of digital intelligence and the physical energy industry will present a wide range of application prospects in the fields of intelligent customer operations, asset management and Industry X.0, smart enterprises, new energy, traditional power generation investment, smart grid expansion, market optimization, new consumer services, energy trading platforms, and extended integrated energy services.
