On December 30, 2019, the first switchgear data center in Anhui Province, Hefei Zhonghai Data Station, was officially put into operation. The station integrates urban power supply and data service functions, which will help promote the ubiquitous power Internet of Things pilot and smart city construction in Hefei.
According to reports, the Zhonghai Data Station is located near Jindou Road, Binhu New District, Hefei City. The site was originally planned as a 20 kV switch station, responsible for the power supply guarantee task of tens of thousands of customers in the surrounding area. Without changing the original layout and function, Hefei Power Supply Company explored and utilized the vacant space of the switch station, installed data servers and network communication equipment, and upgraded the station to the first switch station data station in Anhui Province. The station can provide cabinets, servers, etc. for communication operators and Internet companies, further improve data aggregation and edge computing capabilities, and support the development of urban Internet and big data.
At present, there are nearly 1,000 10kV and 20kV switchgears in the main urban area of Hefei. Hefei Power Supply Company plans to select 10 more switchgears in Binhu Demonstration Zone to build multi-station integration projects this year, and comprehensively build a low-cost, high-efficiency, multi-variety, and new technology energy service complex.
