China Energy Storage Network News: On August 25, the first batch of 5G shared base stations in Fujian and the first in Sanming were completed and passed acceptance at the 220 kV Lexi substation.

The 220 kV Lexi substation 5G shared base station fully utilizes the advantages of 5G technology in terms of large bandwidth, low latency, high reliability and large connection. Through the two remote high-definition network cameras installed on the tower, all 84 towers with 13 lines in the surrounding 2 kilometers are included in the power grid operation monitoring range, achieving 360-degree horizontal and 110-degree vertical monitoring without blind spots. High-definition monitoring video and monitoring data without blind spots are transmitted to the rear control room in real time through the 5G network 24 hours a day, which is convenient for operation and maintenance personnel to analyze and judge.

The 5G shared base station in the substation not only solves the problems of inflexible fiber optic laying and inability to support the deployment of ubiquitous power Internet of Things perception layer equipment, but also provides online monitoring and control means for the intelligent operation of the power grid, greatly improving the efficiency of power grid fault handling. In the event of natural disasters, wildfires and other dangers, it can effectively reduce the safety risks of on-site inspections.

At the same time, due to the high integration and small size of 5G equipment, it can save nearly three times the space, reduce the investment in land acquisition for substation construction and the human, material and financial costs required for equipment operation and maintenance.

In addition, the 5G network base station deployment density is high, and new sites face many difficulties in site selection and land acquisition. By installing 5G base stations in substations, not only can the site selection problem of base stations be solved, but also the construction cost of 5G base stations for operators can be reduced and the coverage quality of 5G networks can be improved.

In the next stage, Sanming Power Grid will also rely on 5G shared base station intelligent operation and maintenance technology to further expand functions such as 4K high-definition monitoring audio and video signal two-way interaction, intelligent panoramic AR inspection robot remote monitoring, and comprehensively promote the intelligent operation of the power grid.
