(Reporter Mao Zhenhua) In front of the State Grid Integrated Energy Service Center in Tianjin Binhai New Area, staff members were "discovered" as they approached the smart street lights. A greeting and introduction were immediately heard from the pole: "Smart street lights can provide citizens with diversified and convenient services such as high-speed wireless network access and information exchange and query, and provide the government with intelligent control of street lights..."

In recent years, State Grid Tianjin Electric Power has actively applied ubiquitous power Internet of Things technology, combined it with Tianjin's smart city construction, and took the lead in developing and piloting a smart street light perception sharing platform, aiming to solve the current problems faced by urban intelligent sensing devices in access, such as shortage of spatial resources, diversified power supply, and complex network environment.

The ubiquitous power Internet of Things is a smart service system that focuses on all aspects of the power system and applies modern information technologies such as mobile Internet and artificial intelligence to achieve interconnection of all things and human-machine interaction in all aspects of the power system. It has the characteristics of comprehensive status perception, efficient information processing, and convenient and flexible application.

The smart street lights put into use this time use street light poles as carriers. By upgrading and transforming traditional light poles, a ubiquitous Internet of Things perception system based on smart street lights is built to promote the terminal perception integration of smart cities and ubiquitous power Internet of Things.

Wang Ze, on-site person in charge of the State Grid Tianjin Electric Power Street Lighting Department, introduced that as a shared platform, smart street lights can conduct real-time monitoring of the status of municipal manhole covers, overflowing trash cans, and environmental data such as temperature and humidity, PM2.5, wind speed and direction, and can realize the application and expansion of multiple functions such as security, transportation, and municipal affairs.

In terms of serving the people's livelihood, the smart street light poles integrate functions such as electric vehicle charging piles, WIFI, and information query. In terms of transmission channels, State Grid Tianjin Electric Power has integrated Internet of Things technologies such as optical fiber, 5G, and wireless private networks.

Wang Ze said that the smart street light sharing platform, which integrates smart lighting, smart transportation, municipal facility monitoring, wind and solar energy storage, and convenient services, not only saves public space resources, but also realizes the perception of various types of information.

In the next two years, State Grid Tianjin Electric Power will gradually upgrade and renovate the street light poles on more than 10 roads in Tianjin's Italian style area and transportation hub area. The upgraded smart street lights will be combined with cutting-edge technologies such as ground projection and virtual reality, just like the "nerve endings" of a smart city, standing on the city streets and sensing the city's warmth and coldness.
