First of all, I would like to thank EEWorld for inviting you to the Disassembly (Fifth Issue): Disassembling Power Strips to Learn Circuits event, and for providing me with this opportunity. As a new player, I am the first time to participate in this kind of disassembly event. Please correct me if there are any shortcomings.
In the era of smart homes, the epidemic has been recurring, and I believe that working from home has become commonplace for workers. Speaking of working from home, it is not an easy thing. For programmers, the software development environment and hardware debugging environment are all in the office. It is troublesome and unnecessary to rebuild the environment at home. In the era of technology, there are of course simpler ways to work comfortably from home.
I am fortunate to participate in the disassembly of the Sunflower brand smart power strip P1Pro. After two weeks of actual use experience, I would like to share my feelings with you. This sharing will start from the following aspects: ① disassembly background; ② unpacking process; ③ display of special functions; ④ use experience.
1. Background of product dismantling
Disassembled product : Sunflower P1pro power strip
Specifications:
It can be seen that remote switch, 4-hole independent control, and power metering are the main features of the product. The 2500W power and 2-meter line length can also meet the needs of most daily scenarios.
2. Unboxing process
The product is a black box with a simple logo printed on it and a layer of dust-proof plastic film on the outside.
After removing all the products inside, see the picture below
My first impression of this all-black power strip with a simple logo is that it is full of technology.
The five sockets on the power strip are all designed with protective doors to effectively prevent foreign objects from being inserted
The shell of the terminal block is made of 750℃ high temperature flame retardant material, which can provide sufficient power safety in complex and harsh use environments.
On the back are some parameters. You can see that the power strip has passed the national 3C standard certification. There is also a 3C certification mark on the plug, which is very safe in terms of electricity use.
There are multiple anti-skid pads at the bottom of the wiring board, which makes it very stable when placed on the office desk. In addition, there are fixing holes at the bottom of the wiring board, which can also be fixed to the wall.
The blue power light and white sub-control indicator light after power on feel very good and clear.
3. Feature Demonstration
Now comes the key point, about the remote control function of this Sunflower power strip combined with the Sunflower APP and its power metering function, which is the part I am most looking forward to.
First, open the instruction manual and follow the steps to download a Sunflower remote control APP on your mobile phone. After opening the APP, power on the power strip first, then add smart hardware in the APP, and you can search for our power strip via Bluetooth.
Then follow the prompts to configure the network. The first time I configured it, it failed and it said that it only supported 2.4G WiFi. Then I solved this problem by turning off the multi-band in my router and creating a 2.4G WiFi separately.
After successfully connecting the power strip to the network, you can view the status and control it through the app on your phone.
Through this control panel interface, you can basically see all its main functions: four switch buttons independently control the on and off of each socket row, and the switches can modify the notes; power statistics; host binding; countdown/timing
Click on the power statistics interface, there are several modules including current current, power consumption, power consumption time, number of switches, and power consumption statistics. I plugged in a 20W mobile phone charger to charge my phone, and the power consumption displayed was 19.71W, which is basically accurate. As for the accuracy of daily power consumption, I cannot test its accuracy because I don't have any measurement tools in this area.
Regarding the countdown/timing function, I think it is very useful and flexible. It can add a timed shutdown function to some home appliances or devices that do not have a timed shutdown function, and some scenes can also have regular timed switches.
The next thing I want to emphasize is its main highlight function. With the Sunflower remote control software, you can remotely control the computer in the shutdown state at any time.
I believe that everyone is familiar with the Sunflower remote control software. We often use similar software to remotely control computers in other places. For example, when working from home, you need to use files on the company computer, but the company computer is unlikely to remain turned on all the time. It is very power-consuming and there are safety hazards. At this time, you can use the Sunflower power strip to power on the computer, turn on the computer (the computer must be set to power-on auto-start mode), and then use the remote control software to complete various operations. After connecting the computer power supply to a socket, you can bind this socket to the corresponding host in the APP, so that you can conveniently control the computer's switch in the APP.
In addition, in some engineering application scenarios, when the computer crashes and needs to be restarted, but it is inconvenient to arrive at the site, you can also remotely restart the computer through a power strip.
4. User Experience
After two weeks of use, the overall feeling is quite good. Compared with other smart power strips that use voice control with voice assistants, the highlight of this one is remote control. In addition to its good-looking appearance, powerful functions, and flexibility, there are also some good details, such as the large spacing between its sockets, which will not cause interference between the plugs in actual use; there is also a power failure recovery function, which can keep the state before the power failure after a call. With such functions, the price of less than 100 yuan is even cheaper than traditional power strips, which can be regarded as a highlight.
This sharing only involves the function display and usage experience before disassembly. In a few days, I will share with you the internal circuit after disassembly to see what highlights there are.
