Global Energy Internet High-end Forum held in Beijing

China Energy Storage Network News : On September 26, the Global Energy Interconnection High-end Forum - China Initiative One-Year Anniversary Commemoration Event co-hosted by the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization and State Grid Corporation of China was grandly held in Beijing. Wang Xiaolin, Deputy Director of the National Energy Administration, attended the event and delivered a speech. Shu Yinbiao, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of State Grid Corporation of China and Vice Chairman of the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization, presided over the forum. This event is another international gathering to discuss the development of the global energy internet since President Xi Jinping proposed at the United Nations Development Summit on September 26, 2015 to explore the construction of a global energy internet and promote the use of clean and green methods to meet global electricity demand, and after China successfully hosted the 2016 Global Energy Internet Conference. It is of great strategic significance and far-reaching impact for implementing the spirit of China's initiative and continuously promoting the innovative development of the global energy internet.

Wang Xiaolin pointed out in his speech that in recent years, the National Energy Administration has attached great importance to and is committed to promoting energy transformation and development, vigorously promoting the revolution in energy production and consumption, and taking various measures to promote the development of clean energy, and has achieved remarkable results. At present, China has become the country with the largest scale of clean energy development in the world. In 2015, the proportion of non-fossil energy in the total primary energy consumption reached 12%. In the next step, under the strategic framework of the "Belt and Road Initiative", we will focus on strengthening the interconnection of energy infrastructure with countries along the "Belt and Road Initiative", promote the construction of cross-border energy channels, share regional energy resources, and make active explorations in building a global energy Internet.

Liu Zhenya said in his welcome speech that the China Initiative on Global Energy Internet is of great significance and far-reaching impact. It has opened up a new path for sustainable development of energy, endowed the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative with new connotations, and is an important measure and starting point for promoting the Belt and Road Initiative. It will become a powerful engine for global economic development, structural adjustment and industrial upgrading, and create new opportunities for world peace and development.

Liu Zhenya pointed out that as the first international energy organization initiated by China, the Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation Organization has been fully promoting and implementing the Global Energy Interconnection China Initiative since its establishment in March 2016 with the strong support of all parties, and has made important progress in concept dissemination, international cooperation, strategic research, technological innovation, project promotion, etc., and has achieved a good start. At present, the cooperation organization has released research results such as "Global Energy Analysis and Outlook" and "Global Energy Interconnection Development Report", and is actively promoting key demonstration projects such as the Mongolia-China-Korea-Japan power interconnection project to promote power interconnection among countries along the "Belt and Road".

Liu Zhenya stressed that at present, the development of the global energy internet is moving towards the stage of strategic implementation and joint action. From now until the middle of this century is an important period for building the global energy internet. The Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization will be guided by strategic planning, supported by innovation-driven development, and guaranteed by international cooperation to comprehensively accelerate the construction of the global energy internet and promote the realization of the "two substitutions". We must give full play to the advantages of ultra-high voltage transmission and smart grids, accelerate the construction of China's energy internet, and promote the interconnection of the Northeast Asian power grid and the interconnection of national power grids along the "Belt and Road". We must promote innovation in science and technology, industry, and finance, give play to the leading role of cooperation organizations, the main role of industry and enterprises, the supporting and guiding role of the government, and the synergistic role of international organizations, gather the wisdom of all parties and form a strong synergy.
