Power engineering manufacturer ABB has won a 500MW supply deal in Jordan.
The company will supply central inverters and controllers to four projects of EPC Martifer Solar located near Ma’an and Mafraq. The plants include a 20MW project and three 10MW installations.
ABB, which helped design the plants to meet grid operator NEPCO’s standards, has also signed a service agreement with Martifer. The company will train Martifer’s operations and maintenance staff on “specialized operations and maintenance of its inverters.”
Marco Alves, Operations and Maintenance Business Director at Martifer Solar, said: “This service agreement established with ABB, which includes the training of our Operations and Maintenance technicians to operate and maintain ABB inverters, is a major milestone for the company and an important step towards proficiency, in line with our global strategy to provide highly reliable Operations and Maintenance services worldwide.”
ABB will supply forty-five of its ULTRA central inverters.
Jordan is expected to import 96% of its energy by 2020 and plans to develop 1.8GW of renewable energy.
ABB is also building substations for a 52.5MW project in the country.
