TI CC2540 USB CDC Serial Port driver installation failure reasons and solutions [Copy link]

I bought a USB serial port adapter with iBeacon base station function. The device is based on TI's CC2540 chip.

Generally speaking, installing the driver for this device is like using a wireless mouse. Windows will automatically install it after plugging it into the USB port. However, this newly purchased device did not have this feature. I spent several days trying to fix it (win7 32-bit, msdn version) before I found out that the reason was that I had turned off the automatic update of Windows Update.

The symptom of driver installation failure is shown in Figure 1. There is an exclamation mark in the device manager. When installing manually, it prompts "The driver software for this device has been found, but an error occurred while trying to install it. The system does not know the specified software."

                    Figure 1: Installation failed

I went into the control panel--windows update and installed updates except the language pack. Then I plugged in the device and it worked. From the update log, it should be a problem with Microsft .NET Framework 4.5.2.

So if you encounter problems installing the driver later, possible reasons and solutions:

1. Wrong driver version, 32-bit or 64-bit, XP or win7, 8----Find the right driver

2 System version problem, such as the simplified version, some drivers will be removed - reinstall the system

3 Windows Update is not updated----Control Panel->Install Updates
