It is difficult for overseas companies to enter the Chinese photovoltaic inverter market

According to the latest report released by research firm IHS, in 2014, the scale of China's photovoltaic inverter market reached 13.3 GW, an increase of 18% year-on-year. IHS said that in view of the increasingly severe market price pressure, the smaller inverter suppliers that once operated gradually went out of business. In the Chinese market, the market share of the inverter market of the large-scale Sungrow Power Supply and the relatively late entrant Huawei has increased significantly.

It is understood that in 2014, Sungrow and Huawei accounted for 48% of China's total inverter revenue and were both among the top ten suppliers in the world. This was also the first time that a Chinese company entered the list. With the huge gains made by string inverters in 2014, the product structure of photovoltaic inverters has begun to change, largely due to Huawei's aggressive publicity and marketing activities. Despite the loss of market share, central inverters are expected to continue to have an impact on China's solar photovoltaic market from 2015 to 2019.

IHS predicts that although many smaller companies have been squeezed out of the market, the market gap is unlikely to be filled by international suppliers. The IHS "China Photovoltaic Inverter Market" report points out that overseas companies have realized that it is not easy to enter the Chinese market. The Chinese market prefers local brands, highly competitive prices, a complex business environment and long-term credit conditions.
