On July 25, SolarWorld, the largest solar photovoltaic cell manufacturer in the United States, exhibited its zero-emission electric aircraft for the first time at the 2011 EAA AirVentureOshkosh in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

SolarWorld and German aircraft manufacturer PCAero have teamed up to create the world's first electric aircraft, which is equipped with a solar power system and a solar charging hangar.

The plane, called ElektraOne, is designed to fly at more than 250 miles per hour and reach a cruising speed of 100 mph.
