BYD sedan suddenly caught fire, the cause is yet to be investigated! If you buy a car again, will you consider new energy vehicles? [Copy link]

On November 23, it was reported online that a BYD electric car suddenly caught fire while charging in a parking lot in Beijing. In response to this, BYD Auto officially responded: According to our understanding: the fire was extinguished in time, there was no explosion, and there were no casualties. The vehicle was sold in early 2019. The specific cause will be further investigated with the cooperation of relevant departments.

According to online reports, this BYD Qin Pro EV caught fire on the evening of November 22 while it was parked in the Beijing Zhongguancun No. 1 underground parking lot. The vehicle was being charged using a Xingxing charging station when the accident occurred.

According to the online updates on the circle of friends of the car owner, the owner was sitting in the car when he heard a strange noise, so he picked up his child and got out of the car. Fortunately, no casualties were caused.

From the pictures of the scene circulated on the Internet, it can be seen that the entire underground garage was filled with thick smoke at the time. Afterwards, not only was the originally white body of the car blackened, but the roof also disappeared.

The specific cause of the vehicle fire is still unclear. According to Autohome's inquiry to BYD officials, the other party responded that the fire was put out in time, no explosion occurred, and no casualties occurred. The vehicle was sold in early 2019, and the specific cause will be further investigated in cooperation with relevant departments. According to AI Finance, BYD insiders said that the rumored Qin Pro EV model was not accurate and the model has not been confirmed yet.

Compared with gasoline cars, the price and daily maintenance costs of new energy vehicles with the same configuration are really attractive. But what everyone is most concerned about is the endurance and safety of new energy vehicles. In recent years, with the popularization of new energy vehicles and various subsidies and preferential policies, more and more people are buying new energy vehicles, but new energy vehicle fires have also emerged in an endless stream. In April this year, BYD announced that its entire series of pure electric models began to be equipped with blade batteries, and the needle penetration test was fully adopted as the corporate standard. At the same time, it also repeatedly emphasized the important characteristics of its safety. Looking forward to the follow-up investigation results of this incident.

If the battery safety issue is resolved and depreciation is not taken into consideration, would you consider new energy vehicles when buying a car?

There are currently products with technology comparable to TS, but they are more expensive than TS because they have more advanced technology, so they are not suitable for you. There are low-priced ones - more reliable and "advanced" than the old electric scooters, but the configuration is very basic, the price is 20,000-60,000 yuan, and there are already several models. Are you tempted?   Details Published on 2022-1-8 16:50

I will still give priority to fuel vehicles, safety is the most important.

In fact, every car has certain risks.

The specific cause is under investigation.

Don't worry, it probably won't be the blade battery that's causing the problem.

My family owns a BYD , so I'm eager to know what caused the fire? Please analyze it for me.

Why don't car owners get out of the car and unplug the charger when they hear something wrong?

I have been driving an electric car for more than three years. Compared with the spontaneous combustion of fuel vehicles, the spontaneous combustion of electric car batteries is still an accidental and low-probability event, and it does not constitute a safety hazard. Of course, no one wants to be this "accident"!

In addition, it is recommended not to charge electric vehicles to more than 92% in winter . If used in this way for a long time, the "probability" will be close to zero unless the battery has other mechanical damage.

I often see that the battery of a car is still charging after it is charged to 99%. If the low temperature and battery attenuation are added, it is estimated that "overcharging" has occurred, which is extremely detrimental to battery safety.

In addition, with current battery technology, the probability of "explosion" is zero, and the most that can occur is varying degrees of combustion.

As far as the future of electric vehicles is concerned, I temporarily believe that chemical battery-powered vehicles are a transitional product. However, when hydrogen power, nuclear power, etc. are not yet popular, this transition will be long, estimated to take 10 to 20 years.

So I will still choose and accept electric cars. If I wait until it is completely "safe" before buying one, better cars will be popular.

There are many reasons for fire, not necessarily the quality of the car itself

Besides the car, there is the charger. We can’t blame the State Grid.

It's usually the battery, because the charging pile has a lot of protection itself, at least it's rare to see the charging pile cause problems.

The charging pile and the "battery" interact with each other via RS485 communication. The car applies for current based on the battery's needs, and then the charging pile gradually increases the current to the requested value based on its own capabilities.

The car can also apply for new adjustments or stop charging at any time according to its own conditions (such as battery temperature, charging curve or slope, etc.).

This interaction rarely goes wrong, otherwise it will "jump the gun" and fail to run or complete charging, rather than causing the accident to escalate.

I will not buy an electric car at the moment, unless the price is ridiculously low, such as 50% of the price of a fuel car with the same configuration, and the technology is more advanced than Tesla, and the quality is higher than Tesla, then maybe I will consider it.

With the development of future technology, hydrogen energy and even nuclear energy may be the ultimate choice
