Recently, the first third-generation concentrated solar cell grid-connected power generation demonstration project in China was put into operation in Yixing Entrepreneurship Park, Yixing Economic Development Zone. Jiang Hongliang, member of the Standing Committee of Wuxi Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of Yixing Municipal Party Committee, was pleased to unveil the project.
Concentrated solar cells are systems that use concentrating equipment to focus sunlight within a certain area onto a solar cell within a narrow range, and then generate electricity. According to reports, the total installed capacity of the solar cell power station demonstration project is 30KW, using gallium arsenide multi-section semiconductor cells with a solar energy conversion rate of up to 42%, a lens group with a concentration multiple of 500 times, and a dual-axis solar tracker. In particular, the 42% conversion rate of gallium arsenide multi-section semiconductor cells is currently the highest, more than 2.5 times that of ordinary solar cells, thereby greatly improving the solar energy conversion rate while significantly reducing costs, making it truly possible for solar power generation to replace thermal power generation.
The project was jointly invested by the Economic Development Zone and the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and was undertaken by Wuxi Haoyang New Energy Co., Ltd., a "530" start-up company led by a doctor who returned from the United States and was introduced by the Development Zone. The company mainly develops and manufactures concentrated solar panels, solar trackers, and solar grid-connected power generation systems, and has 4 US patents in the field of concentrated solar systems. At present, the company has formed cooperative relations with many well-known domestic energy companies and is the only supplier of solar trackers in the first domestic Dunhuang 10MW solar grid-connected power generation demonstration project.
Jiang Hongliang listened carefully to the report of the company's head on the construction and development prospects of the project. He pointed out that concentrated solar cells are a high-end application of solar energy and have good development prospects. He hoped that Haoyang Company would industrialize and scale it up as soon as possible, occupy the commanding heights of the market with its technological advantages, and make more contributions to the transformation and sustainable development of the city's economy.
