For the consumer market, non-invasive devices are undoubtedly more easily accepted by people.
On November 22, 2024, at the "Third Nandujiang Smart Healthcare and Rehabilitation Industry Summit Forum", Chen Han, co-founder and chief operating officer of Zhejiang Rouling Technology Co., Ltd., shared the application of wearable brain-computer interface devices in the field of sleep with the theme of "About the application of non-invasive brain-computer interface wearable devices in the field of sleep".
"We hope to bring sleep equipment to thousands of households through miniaturized and flexible equipment, and solve people's sleep problems," said Chen Han.
Rouling Technology's product line for brain-computer interfaces includes two major products: one is the nano brain-computer interface, which is a wearable miniaturized device for "nighttime EEG monitoring + sound wave regulation + diagnosis and screening of neurological diseases", which can achieve precise monitoring + precise intervention in a single channel, and can be applied to water surface monitoring and clinical medical fields; the other is the neural interactive bracelet, which is a neural 3D interactive neural interactive bracelet with the characteristics of intelligent sleep space control and multi-channels, and can be applied to sleep-related IoT, equipment control, rehabilitation/XR fields.
When talking about the application of non-implantable brain-computer interfaces in sleep, Chen Han introduced that nighttime EEG (EEG sleep) as a means of monitoring physical signs is as important as body temperature and blood pressure. The goal of portable nano brain-computer interface devices is to make blood pressure as simple as it is in the future. However, because traditional hospital monitoring equipment PSG is heavy, the application scenarios are very limited. More importantly, this demand is not only limited to sleep centers, but also in psychiatry, cardiovascular rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation, respiratory department, neurology department, and outside the hospital.
The medical-grade flexible EEG sleep patch series in the EEG field is the core product of Rouling Technology. The first generation of EEG sleep monitors has been approved for marketing, and the second generation of multimodal PSG products is being registered. On the basis of accurate sleep monitoring, the company also achieves accurate sleep intervention through targeted sound stimulation, and related clinical research is underway.
It is reported that this product is the only commercial sleep-related device in the world with a closed-loop acoustic feedback effect, which has very strong benefits for doctors, hospitals, and patients. In addition, the product meets the AASM standard, and compared with the gold standard PSG, Rouling's consistency reaches 83.1-93%. On the consumer side, the Xiaorouxiangshui APP can further help people accurately monitor their sleep. For example, the time it takes for Dr. Li Pu of Shunde Tongjiang Hospital to fall asleep has been reduced from 24 minutes to 5 minutes.
In addition, based on previous clinical data, Rouling Technology is expanding the medical application scenarios of EEG sleep patches, including quantitative monitoring and identification of comorbidities such as sleep and cognition, emotion, and pain.
In terms of flexible neural interactive bracelets, Meta just released the neural wristband on September 26, 2024 (as an accessory for the third-generation Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses), which popularized this concept.
The flexible neural interactive bracelet developed by Rouling Technology is the world's first fully flexible nanoelectronic chip. It mainly uses 3D gesture recognition technology based on electromyography signal acquisition and decoding, and provides a new generation of human-computer interaction interface for AR, VR, and the metaverse in the form of an electromyography bracelet.
At present, the product has an NLP accuracy rate of over 98%, a latency as low as 20ms, and the ability to recognize 53 static and 20 dynamic gestures. Its weight is only 1/3 of that of the US Meta. Its algorithm is benchmarked against Meta and can achieve classification and recognition of 30 actions such as writing 26 letters plus 10 numbers with one finger. It can also be applied to smart sleeping spaces.
Official information shows that Rouling Technology was established in 2020. Its main projects include: EEG monitor, which uses the world's lightest and thinnest (20 microns) EEG nano-electronic patch and precise artificial intelligence sleep monitoring technology, targeting hospitals, health care, home and other scenarios.
