When AI has achieved results in treating a certain disease, what will be the next product form or problem that AI+medical will solve? On March 26, at the "VB100 New Year Strategy Release Day", Dr. Fang Cong, Vice President of Yitu Medical, answered this question.
"Yitu Medical has a deep layout in multiple product lines such as lung cancer and bone age in the past. After multiple point-like products are applied, we hope to integrate artificial intelligence technology with scenarios to solve the problem of a closed loop in the entire scenario. For the first scenario, we chose pediatrics."
From single-point tasks to full-scenario services, full-stack AI technology is the core element of the medical industry upgrade. At the press conference, facing the current imbalance between supply and demand of pediatric medical resources, Yitu Medical officially launched the Children's Health Intelligent Cloud Platform.

The platform integrates Yitu Medical's strong technical reserves in three major fields: computer vision, natural language processing, and natural speech recognition. It empowers China's pediatric medical institutions with a series of AI products that run through the entire process of pediatric diagnosis and treatment and a powerful intelligent cloud platform. It provides services ranging from child health assessment to pediatric diagnosis and treatment, covering full-scenario AI services before, during, and after diagnosis. It will comprehensively improve China's pediatric diagnosis and treatment efficiency and the pediatric diagnosis and treatment capabilities of primary medical institutions, reduce the work pressure of pediatric medical staff, and allow more Chinese families to enjoy high-level pediatric diagnosis and treatment services.
China has long been extremely short of high-quality pediatric diagnosis and treatment resources. According to the White Paper on the Current Status of Pediatric Resources in China, there are only 135,000 pediatricians in China, while the number of children aged 0-14 in China is as high as 260 million. On average, each pediatrician has to serve 2,600 children. Problems such as high pressure and high risk have long plagued pediatricians, and the loss of pediatricians is shocking. At the same time, parents are also suffering from the difficulty of obtaining high-quality pediatrician resources, and it is difficult to get an appointment with a pediatric specialist.
Dr. Fang Cong emphasized: "The pediatric scenario is a typical example of the serious imbalance between medical supply and demand in China. Moreover, pediatrics is a 'dumb subject'. Child patients themselves are not very able to describe their own conditions and need their parents to repeat them for them. This feature is also a very good scenario for artificial intelligence technology to enter. Since its inception, Yitu Medical has been committed to providing world-class solutions to world-class medical problems."
How can we solve the problems of imbalance between supply and demand? The emergence of the Children's Health Intelligent Cloud Platform may alleviate this public health problem.
Dr. Fang Cong said: "After several years of development, Yitu Medical has established a pediatric AI product matrix that covers the entire chain of in-hospital and out-of-hospital diagnosis and treatment. Currently, the cloud platform has dozens of AI services such as intelligent guidance, intelligent pre-diagnosis, intelligent pre-diagnosis testing, and intelligent voice medical records, covering all scenarios before, during, and after diagnosis, hospital management, and clinical research. It will further promote the intelligentization of China's pediatric field, empower every link inside and outside the hospital with advanced AI products, empower both doctors and patients, and alleviate the difficulties in pediatric diagnosis."
After further understanding, it was found that the cloud platform can use multimodal information to interact with parents in the pre-diagnosis stage to realize intelligent consultation; during the diagnosis, the pediatric intelligent stratified diagnosis model based on massive data training and the cloud platform that integrates the wisdom of top pediatricians can intelligently assess the growth and development of children, realize intelligent diagnosis of general pediatric diseases, and greatly enhance pediatric diagnostic capabilities; after the diagnosis, the cloud platform can continue to empower primary pediatrics, realize intelligent follow-up, and realize intelligent referral from the grassroots to the center, so that every Chinese child can enjoy high-quality medical services.

In terms of actual application, the health scenario SaaS service based on Yitu Medical's Children's Health Intelligent Cloud Platform has been put into use in iKang Guobin. At present, the Pediatric Health Intelligent Cloud Platform has also been put into trial use in Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shanghai and other regions. Among them, the care.aiTM Children's Growth and Development Intelligent Diagnosis System has been put into trial use in more than 100 medical institutions. Among the top ten pediatric hospitals in the Fudan Hospital Ranking in 2018, 9 of them use our Children's Growth and Development Intelligent Diagnosis System.
At the press conference, Professor Liu Shiyuan, the incoming chairman of the Radiology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, chairman of the China Medical Imaging AI Industry-University-Research-Application Innovation Alliance, and director of the Department of Imaging Medicine and Nuclear Medicine of Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, attended the press conference and delivered a speech.

He pointed out that with the development of artificial intelligence, it is very important for medical workers to combine with medical artificial intelligence. In the future, the China Medical Imaging AI Industry-University-Research-Application Innovation Alliance will continue to play a bridging role, so that artificial intelligence can truly take root, sprout, and bear fruit in the field of medical imaging, and realize clinical applications, and ultimately make more breakthroughs and contributions to improving medical quality, reducing medical costs, and benefiting more people.
