The 8-bit microcontrollers PIC12C508(A)/509(A) and PIC12CE518/519 produced by Microchip have only 8 pins, and their pin arrangement is shown in the figure below. This product is one of the basic levels of PIC, and its characteristics are low power consumption, multi-function, high performance, small size and low price. Because of the small size of this product, they can be embedded in almost any electronic product, especially portable electronic products, such as various IC cards, electronic identity cards, cameras, chargers, timers, smart sensors, light regulators, children's toys, etc., which have been widely used.
The difference between the PIC12CE5×× and 12C5×× series microcontrollers is that the former has an E2PROM data memory, while the latter has a RAM data area. The rest of the features, pin arrangement and performance are almost exactly the same. They are all OTP microcontrollers (once written, not erasable), suitable for mass electronic products.
Main functions High-performance RISC structure CPU; reduced instruction set with only 33 single-byte instructions, easy to learn and use; execution speed DC ~ 1μs; two-level hardware stack; direct/indirect/relative three addressing modes.
On-chip hardware performance 8-bit timer/counter TMRO, with 8-bit prescaler; strong driving force, I/O port can directly drive digital tube LED display; built-in power-on reset circuit (POR) to ensure normal reset; built-in self-oscillating watchdog (1 + WDT) to prevent program deadlock; program confidentiality bit; prevent illegal copying of program code; low-power sleep function; built-in 4MHz RC oscillator, three oscillation clocks can be selected (RC, XT, LP).
The temperature characteristics of the power supply are as follows: operating voltage 2.5V~5.5V; low power sleep mode <1μA; low clock frequency and low power consumption, such as power consumption <15μA at 32kHz; operating temperature: commercial grade 0℃~+70℃; industrial grade -40℃~+85℃ and automotive grade -40℃~+125℃, especially the latter has been widely used in automotive electronics and aviation instruments.
