Recently, after the release of the iPhone 14 series, its sales have been attracting attention from all parties. According to the latest data, the sales of the two models of the Pro version of the iPhone 14 series equipped with Lingdong Island are much better than the regular version of the iPhone 14 series. Even Foxconn, Apple’s largest mobile phone foundry, has dismantled some iPhone 14 production lines. The decline in iPhone 14 sales seems to have also affected the production capacity requirements of related chip suppliers. Recently, CNMO discovered on Qichacha that TSMC will revise its sales outlook at an investor meeting.

The information indicates that TSMC's major customers have cut orders for foundry production, which will force TSMC to revise its sales outlook at an investor meeting in January 2023. Although the message does not mention information about the major customer, it is not difficult to find from TSMC's partners that the customer is most likely Apple. At present, TSMC has not responded to this matter.

It is worth mentioning that there have been reports that due to various factors, the cost of TSMC's chip foundry has risen significantly. In order to maintain the normal operation of the company, TSMC plans to increase the price of chip foundry in 2023. Even TSMC's main customer, Apple, is no exception. However, Apple does not seem to be able to accept TSMC's price increase. In this way, the increase in chip foundry prices and the poor sales performance of the iPhone 14 may be the reasons for Apple's reduction in chip demand.
