According to Korean media reports, Korean semiconductor manufacturers have not been able to import high-purity hydrogen fluoride and photoresist materials from Japan for a month since Japan announced the semiconductor material restriction order on July 4. The report mentioned that since Japan's export review has been implemented for a month, the Korean industry speculates that SK Hynix only has 1.5 months of high-purity hydrogen fluoride and photoresist inventory left.

The situation of Samsung Electronics is roughly similar. Although Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited Japan in mid-July, he was unable to successfully resolve the problem of obtaining raw materials.

For Samsung, the trade dispute between South Korea and Japan may boost the price of memory flash memory, but Samsung itself is very cautious about this. It said that as customers in the data center market adjust their inventory, weak demand and price declines in memory chips will continue to exist, and business uncertainties are expected for the rest of the year.

Unlike SK Hynix, Micron and other companies that have announced production cuts, Samsung has not yet taken similar actions, but the shortage of raw materials will most likely force them to do so.
